When did you realise you weren’t the only person in the world who likes to wear nappies?

when i searched for adult diapers and abdl diapers and sites came up.

Actually funny thing that actually wasn't done until 2014 for me when I finally was allowed on the internet I then one day looked up cute babyfur art (diapered tails was the search I was a big fan of sonic the hedgehog then) and the results I got were staggering. I then found my path onto a site called babyfur.me and where I remained incredibly active until the hate pulled me out when I started posting my art. Finally the place got shut down (thankfully so) and I remember how much anger and hate was there but It got me thinking that mabey there is nicer places and thus my search continued.

I was ABDL looooong before 2014 but never knew it by that name

When I was first introduced to the internet.

Before that I thought I was the only person in the world who had an interest in diapers.

In my mid to late 30s when the internet came along.

I was in my early 30's working in an auto restoration shop, the boss came over to the lunch table with a bunch of porno magazines and threw them on the table for us to read. The 2 nd or 3rd day I was reading personal stories in the back of a NUGGET mag. and there was a story about a 17-year old that was dating a 16-year-old and one day his girlfriend asked if he would babysit her younger sister for a few hours? He said sure and that eve he was diapering the 6-year-old for bedtime and the 6-year-old asked him what he thought of her older sister still wearing diapers, he was shocked but trying not to show it and said that was fine, The six-year-old thought that was cool, and was put to bed. A little later after she was asleep he went into his girlfriend's room and started to looking around and found the top and 2nd drawer full of plastic pants and cloth diapers. he was shocked and went downstairs, when she came home he said nothing, acting normal and later headed home. He thought about it for a few days and went to a drug store and bought a generic diaper and plastic pants in his size. That evening on his date with his girlfriend he said he had a big secret to share and told her he wore diapers, She was so excited he said she pulled up her skirt and had on thick cloth diapers and pretty yellow plastic pants, He said they ended up making love in the living room that night, and many more nights, about a year, later said they broke up for other reasons but he has never stopped wearing diapers since. That was the first time I realized I was not alone as I had already been wearing for 25 plus years in secret, other than my wife knowing. I really thought I was nuts and had such low self-esteem, it finally after that, very very slowly started feeling better about diapers, and now for the last 8 to 9 months have been wearing and wetting almost every night and I feel soooooo much better, although there is still some guilt I need to deal with and get rid of!!!! SORRY FOR SUCH A LONG STORY!!

From an article in Time Out Magazine in London back in the late eighties!

There was a syndicated radio show called the “Sunday night sex show” with Sue Johannsen as the host. She was kind of a Canadian Dr. Ruth. Anyway one of her callers asked about being an AB. It was the first time I heard anything remotely related to diaper kink. Later the proverbial floodgates opened with dial up internet.

I think I was about 15-16 years old when the internet was booming in the late 1990's and the dial-up modem got fast enough to be able to browse the site and found some diaper boy stories. And then a few years later, photos started popping up so that is when I found out there are such thing as adult diapers with tapes are available in drug stores.
Same reply for me. I was just "practical" at my earlier times being semi-comfortable wearing nighttime protection and until the internet I never really thought about others that wore diapers just for the delight of wearing (not even using them but just wearing). Now I just know I am just a small part of a bigger DL reasoning world!

I remember that show. She was very cool. Don't remember catching an episode about diapers, but she probably was very supportive.

This is early 1980's (the internet was just a military research project) and I had recently finished school and got my own cozy 1 bedroom condo. I picked up the gay magazine Advocate, it had personal ads then, and saw an ad for DPF (Diaper Pail Friends). I was like really there is a club for this. You had to write them to join and there was an annual fee for a newsletter. When I got the first newsletter and roster then I knew I wasn't just some weird kinky kid. I met quite a number of very nice guys through them back then, some are still close friends.

She was cool about it. The funny thing was the guy calling in was literally “asking for a friend”. Lol. She had a unique way of say “fetish” and I was like, “huh, is that what this is called”? I rationalized it as a “habit”.
I have to give her credit though. There was no internet and getting info about sexuality was so difficult at the time. She did a huge public service to get people to feel comfortable about themselves.

Ah yes, the DPF days, Back when Tommy was running the place
DPF was my first intro into the wide world of others who enjoyed wearing diapers.

When I was a kid I used to deliberately wet or poo my normal in my normal underpants. The idea of wearing nappies didn't appeal to me at all then even though I was a bedwetter until I was 12 and wore drynites to bed every night.

I found online forums of people who were into nappies and I never thought I'd actually wear nappies myself. I just thought I'd carry on just using my normal pants.

I cannot imagine how I would have felt if I had learned that there were others at such a young age as 13. I did not find out until I was in my middle 30's having had the passion since I was about 7.

Same! I found out only 2 years ago. My life would be a lot different if I was ABDL aware at 13; very different if I were aware when I was living as a bachelor for 5 years.

I came across DPF when I was 16-17 years old (1995-1996). That pushed me into other places like AB Kingdom, Daily Diapers, and many, many other sites.

I had a neopets friend back in the early 2010s or so who really liked baby neopets in diapers and would ask me to draw them. I didn't think much of it at the time but I recently had an "oh duh" moment recently. That friend was a babyfur. Only nearly a decade late to realizing no biggie 🥴

I found out I wasn't alone in adult diapers through this site actually. When I was 19 soooo.... 2016?

I will never forget it. I attended a high school in western Maryland in the early 1970s. A regional college symphony came to play for the school. There must have been a glass evenflo baby bottle in the prop area off the side of the stage from a previous theater play. The music teacher brought it out and put it on the conductor's stand. Occasionally between songs he would drink out of it! Then near the end of the concert he sat it beside the conductor's podium. I exited the auditorium by going down front and checking to make sure I wasn't seeing things. I could not believe it was real!

From there I became aware of AOL groups.

I think I was around 13-14 when I decided to google "diaper". At first I only looked at pictures (the promo stuff you see with medical diaper packages and baby diapers). Then I repeated the search on google videos. That's when I found videos of sexy women wearing diapers. (I think it was Wellpadded or something the videos came from).

That was my clue that there had to be more people like me. However, I thought that only woman was into diapers since that was all I found. At some point I found more stuff on early youtube. I remember there was a guy who posted a lot of videos of himself in his bab gear. Each video had the same discription about himself that he was a sissy, wore 24/7, pretty much baby mode 24/7as well, and had pretty much lost the ability to make it to the bathroom. That video terrified me, because I thought abdl was this black hole of madness where you would end up like that guy.

Lucky I discovered adisc and found out that you can have a "normal" life while still being into diapers.
