xp medical - Diaper price layout

So I have been in search of diapers recently. So I decided to hit up xp medical. How ever I am not willing to spend a lot of money so I made a pricing chart to give my self and idea of prices and what not and absorbency so I know what to buy. I decided to post this as it may help a few of you guys out. I have short named ever diaper. As well provided a size diaper absorbency diaper count case price and price per diaper. I also put in there if it was cloth or not. Every thing here is by case

they aren't much more then a lot of those and are cheaper then abena or tena maxi. They are a tad bit more expensive then molicare super plus but those are stopping plastic backed production I heard.

1.48 or so per diaper is expensive but given I can wear for hours I'm happy with the price.

It is the cheapest more absorbent diaper on the list for me at least. It should do haha.

I saw the reviews page recently too. I thought the 'cost per ounce of absorbency' was interesting. Looks like the Abriform M3 Extra and the A+ Level 4 tie for first place, followed by the Deltaform M3 and Dry 24/7.

so after making this. I decided I would splurge and order a case of drys 24/7. I haven't had them in a really really really really really. Did I mention really? Long time. At least 2 years.

Does anybody have experience with the Absorbency Plus Level 4 diapers? I would be getting the "regular" size.

They look good, are thick, all white, plastic backed, all the things a girl could want! EXCEPT they do not have standing leak guards. grrrr!!!

I would be using them at night, sleeping on my tummy for nighttime IC.
I would also be wearing them at times during the day and using them either in a laying on my back, sitting or standing position.

I am really looking for a replacement and like these but...... Is the lack of leak guards an issue with them?

Also, I've read people saying these don't hold a lot but according to the XP sites tests they hold almost as much as the 24/7's.
They also seem to balloon out like freakin crazy (from .5 to 2.2 inches thick) just like the 24/7's. Do the tapes hold up?
Also are the level 3's even worth buying??

PS: My backup choice was the Abena Abri-Form M4 X-Plus but I didn't really like all the writing on the outside.
The Dry 24/7 Max Absorbency came in third but are the most expensive.
And last place was the Molicare SuperPlus, not a fan of the purple, even thou its my fav color and looking at the chart they don't hold a whole lot.

Sorry if I am sort of hijacking the thread here but there are no reviews on the Absorbency Plus Level 4's on here.

About a hour ago i ordered another case of A+ Level 4.

I like them as they hold a lot (86oz)and the price per OZ is 1.6 cents.

I like to spend my time in a wet diaper and the A+ Level 4 lets me.

The lack of leak guards does not seem to be a problem as the hold as much as a Bambino's and still not leak.
I have even peed them laying on my side and they did not leak.

I would say order a pack and try them out. they are only just $9.95 per pack of 8.

I have not had any issues with A+ L4 but that is me. As for IC I can not say. I think as long as you are not flooding it constantly you should be fine. How ever it can be pretty bulky.

Mandybear, I bought some shortly after they came out. Cannot remember the capapacity comparison. The lack of leak guards did not bother me either. All I remember is the tapes tearing the plastic when it was time to remove it. I have seen mentioned that the tapes have been changed to be refastenable. As seen in this thread, some people really like them. For those that like the level 4's, the level 3's are just as good at a daytime absorbency with a cheaper price.

For my money, I like the Dry 24/7s in medium. They fit me better, have a better quality plastic shell, and currently cost only 5 pennies more per diaper by the case. They have leak guards, waistbands, and a higher absorbency.


Xpmedical has not updated the price per diaper or price per ounce for the Dry 24/7. At $1.46 per diaper, the cost per ounce drops to 1.5 cents making it the cheapest. The A+ diapers are selling at $1.405 each, not $1.39 each. However, this does not really change their price per ounce.


My recommendation would be to check out the A+ in both absorbencies and the Dry 24/7. Your personal preference may not match mine.

not surprisingly, the dry247's appear to be at the high end of the value scale if you ignore the (overpriced?) abenas and tenas at the bottom

Ya the cost per oz thing I really don't care about, lol.
Its more just the cost per diaper and total cost per 1/2 case and case.
Its not that I'm a cheapy, lol, but this all comes out of pocket and I'm used to paying store brand prices.
BUT.
I think I am going to start off with the A+ level 3's.
They should easily handle the night time and hopefully be thin enough for days when I need them.
I could always keep using those plastic backed depends for the day, which BTW really aren't all that bad as most people think.
I miss my old store brand!! Grrr! they were like perfect, most times, lol, not to thick or thin, good for day n night.

This is how Dry 24/7 makes logical sense. How many diapers do you use per day? A couple of years ago or so, I did a test between Depend and I believe Abena. I went through about 5-7 Depends per day compared to 4 Abena per day. I don't remember the math nor do I have the time to do it at the moment, but the math stated that it was cheaper to use a premium diaper over time.

The cost was significant enough for me to take notice. Even if it's $1-2 per day, but you can actually save about $30-45 a month. To some of us like me it is significant.

I drive an 18 wheeler and I couldn't even trust wearing a thinner diaper. The paranoia of leaking, the constant stops and the time to change, could take a huge chunk of time out of my day. I wear Dry 24/7 exclusively now because it fits the best, it lasts longer, it's cheaper in the long run, and I'm not as conscious about wearing and using diapers that includes the increased chances of leaks that cheaper and thinner diapers have. They also do a great job in controlling the odor.

Absolutely true. Ask someone who has been dealing with IC for years and you often find out that once introduced to premium diapers, we tend to avoid the cheaper ones. I used Depends many (many, many, many, did I say many?) years back when they were still decent. As they headed downhill, I started transitioning to better quality diapers. Even when Depends were decent, I would go through 5-7 of them per day because they would get wet and hit capacity quickly and kept your skin wet. I've been using Abena (and now A+) over the last couple years and find that they hold enough and keep my skin dry to the point I only need 2-3 diapers a day and rarely do I ever worry about leaks. Two diapers a day at $1.41 to $1.50 is less than $3.00 per day. Depends would have to be under $0.60 per diaper to get me that cost.

There are a number of factors that decide in whether or not someone cares purely about cost per diaper or cost per ounce; if you have skin that is very sensitive or fecal incontinence, how much liquid a diaper can hold isn't that important, you're going to be changing often enough it isn't a big deciding factor.

Actually Molicare is not stopping it's plastic backed line. I heard this from a official statement from XP medical (as well as people here on ADISC who asked Gary those questions as well). Apparently that was nothing more then a rumor that somehow got started when Tena announced that it was phasing out plastic backed diapers in the United States. Keep in mind I'm not entirely sure you where talking about Tena slip Maxi or Molicare Super Plus just now but it occurred to me that someone else might very well get confused so I decided to mention that to avoid furthering the rumors.

I only need to wear them (mostly) for night time IC.
For those in the north east US, I was using the Pathmark / AnP "live better" (store brand). They are plastic backed and thicker then the Depend Protection with tabs, BUT they no longer sell them in Med and only in Large (WHY?!? IDK) The Large "live better" diapers are huge on me, lol.
So now I am currently using the depend's Med ones, which have been working pretty good for me, but they are thin.
I've had my problems with both brands and sizes leaking but that was mostly due to sleeping on my side (which most all fail at).

The reason the cost per diaper is more important to me over cost per ounce is because something like the Dry 24/7 can be a bit of overkill for night time. lol
It's sort of wasting a premium diaper at night, especially when its sorta hardly used and has to be tossed in the morning.
Wearing during the day (at home) it really doesn't matter how thick it is, lol, but there are times I feel safer wearing one outside and trying to hide a thin diaper is hard enough and I think those Dry 24/7's would be almost impossible to hide.

So its like I want something thicker and more absorbent then the Depends but one I could still comfortably hide under my clothes when I feel like I need to wear one during the day. That's why I decided to try the A+'s level 3 first and maybe the 4's after.

I may be the odd one but I just want one diaper that can do it all for me (like my old ones did) rather then buying and having two or three different ones.
