Towns with strange names

Tacoma, WA once had paper mills and a smelter that made one-third of the nation's arsenic (among other things). People in Seattle called the smell the "Tacoma Aroma"

Larry Bird was known as "the Hick from French Lick" which I think is in Arkansas.
That would be French Lick, Indiana. They have a really cool hotel there. I can’t believe I didn’t mention this one.😂

The only one I've witnessed personally is Coxsackie, NY.

However, I think Tasmania has most places on earth beat.

Not really "strange" but every time I hear someone mention Destin, Florida, I swear I hear "Desitin, Florida."

In Australia...well, someone's already done all the ones in Tasmania. But we have Fannie Bay in the Northern Territory [note for my north American friends, fanny does not mean bum out here...], Rooty Hill in New South Wales and Iron Knob in South Australia.

From the UK I give you Pratts Bottom, Cold Christmas, Bat and Ball.

I'm glad someone mentioned the long place name in Wales. An example of the other extreme is a village in France, which has just one letter: Y. (Pronounced "ee", and it means "there".)

Oops, I just relooked at the thread replies and found that Sofia had already identified this.
Don't worry, you get better with practice 🤭
I've seen the Intercourse sign before (pre-internetish)... could've been on a comedy roadtrip film (got National Lampoon's in mind, but I'm not sure).

Anyway, Kalamazoo, Michigan!
And Ade's in France, too (working for the UN, trying to pacify all those cross ants).
