Nearly 2 years ago I told my then fiancée about my diaper fetish (we just got married about 3 weeks ago!). She is now enjoys our fetish together. She's very accepting and participates in every way (wearing, wetting, changing, diaper sex). Before I told her, my fetish was mostly sexual since I had very little time when she wasn't here to experiment for long periods of time. It was like as soon as she left I wanted to tape on a diaper, pee, and then "finish". The entire process usually lasted no more than an hour. I can only speculate that since I wasn't able to wear often, that when I did, I had a lot of built up desire. Thus, the whole experience didn't last long.

Fast forward to now....I now consider it a lifestyle. I wear for hours on end, sometimes initially just for comfort. I'm excited to try different diapers; not because it's a turn on, but because I'm honestly interested in how it will perform. I'm interested in using diapers for convenience, and for a feeling of security. Don't get me wrong, it's still a fetish for me....I still get pleasure out of wearing and wetting; but I also love the feeling of just wearing a diaper as I go along my daily routine. The other day I wore for a total of 12 hours, with one diaper change at the 8 hour mark; a personal record for me! It felt great to wear as if it's part of my normal day.

I'm curious what other DL's have experienced as their fetish progressed. How does it make you feel? How far has it progressed? How have you integrated it into your daily life?
 
I am totally in the same boat! I used to only diaper for masturbatory purposes. I started wearing more often because of a problem prostate that caused nearly constant urinary urges, and am now diapered about half the time.

A lot of the thrill that comes from diapers now is related to trying new products. I'm actually considering taking a break from them for a week or two in order to resensitize when I start wearing again. I think it's analogous to how it felt when I started looking at X-rated material in adolescence; one grainy picture could sustain me for weeks, and now, I have the entire Internet at my disposal and it doesn't feel as thrilling.
 
I can totally agree with the OP's feelings. It was entirely sexual for me at first, but now I enjoy the convenience.
 
Back in January, I got my dream job, and that included working from home. I now have the house all to myself every day, and I take full advantage of that, believe me. Diapers started out as solely sexual for me too, but has definitely moved more toward comfort. The day may come when I just don't feel like wearing every day, but I don't seen that happening anytime soon. It seems the more I wear, the more natural it feels, and the more unnatural it feels to not be in one.

I haven't quite got to the point where I want to wear all the time. However, what used to be an occasional treat has now become something hat happens at least a couple times a week. I believe the longer you're into this lifestyle, the less severe the binge and purge cycles. When I first started out, after I wore a diaper and used it, I wanted nothing to do with them for at least a couple weeks. Now, I'm ready to strap on another one not long after I remove one!

Does anyone else feel less aroused by diapers after they increase the frequency of use? Like I said above, for me it's like porn or a drug, and I feel like I'm always chasing those first few "highs". I used to get so aroused just possessing and putting a GoodNite on that sometimes my "protrusion" made it difficult to get into. I had the same experience when I bought my first pack of Depends tape-ons, and when I bought my GoodNites TruFits (holy cow did I wear myself out that day!) I wear at least 5 days a week now. It's certainly pleasant and comforting and convenient, especially when my prostate issues flare up and I have to pee all the time, but that raw erotic edge is definitely gone most of the time.

What still gets my motor running is the thrill of buying, either in-store or online. I love getting new brands and styles to try and review. In defiance of my username, I have switched to purposely going through a checkout line with a real cashier rather than a self-checkout kiosk, playing chicken with myself, or going to stores that don't have the self-service option. I also still get a real thrill, albeit short-lived, from the very rare times I mess myself.

That's why I am considering a period of abstinence. I want to get some of that heart-racing thrill back. Any advice?

Like the previous poster said...nothing will be like your first. However, I've maintained the same level excitement every time I wear over the last few years by only wearing a couple times a week. Sometimes I wear only once every couple weeks. For me, this creates a fairly intense experience every time. In fear of becoming too comfortable and losing that "edge" I make the conscious effort to wear only when I only have the strongest desires.

I've been essentially 24/7 for the last couple years now, and haven't found any loss of enjoyment. I still get a little high every time I put on a fresh diaper, and no matter where I'm at I have bliss knowing that I'm so fortunate to be diapered all the time. :)

It occasionally occurs to me how badly I wish I was diapered in the past, and what I would have given then to be "living the dream" as I am today.
 
When I first go back into diapers it was 100% sexual for me and I always used them for masturbation purposes. Over time it has become more of a comfort item and a stress reliever for me. It is still sexual for me sometimes but nowhere near as much as it used to be.
 
My wearing nappies is 70% sexual for me, in basic terms. I have seen a slow progression in it, however: when I lived by myself for my first year of university, I was able to wear for longer, with more feelings of "convinience" and just for the feeling. I even had a little bit of a nostalgia run with the old TV shows as my nappy got wetter and wetter. At the end of the day, however, it ends up being sexual for me, but it's slightly less now than it was.

I can associate with the above: it does work to relieve some stress/anxieties, but it sometimes creates new ones for me, which isn't particularly nice after it has finished and I have to combat my mind.
 
I know for me, it depends on the privacy and the amount of time available to indulge. Whenever I'm in home with others in the house, I usually don't use the diaper before Finishing, so I try to leave little Windows of being caught as possible.

I think that it's the time that's comfortably available to me that causes how I use the diaper. If it's night time, everyone else would be asleep and I would go through a quickie. When I'm driving 18 wheelers however, I wear more often for extended periods of time. I use my diapers for functionality, it really does help because I can get to a truck stop early enough to get a parking spot. I stop less often, and in the long run, my prostate and other organs stay healthier by not holding in a gallon of urine.

What I'm trying to say is that, depending on your living situation, you have an accepting partner, so you're more comfortable wearing more often, and not trying to rush things. I know I don't like to waste diapers and would often save them afterwards. To me this is a cycle, when I'm home or not, have company, or out on the road.

I think this would be a common thing and believe that if someone lives alone, they'll wear and use their diaper to it's capability and fully enjoy the perks and not trying to rush out a satisfaction to get rid of the urge. On the other hand the people still hiding, not alone, still in the closet would be doing exactly the opposite. They rush the satisfaction to get rid of the urge. They'll get a small window of opportunity or just can't help the urge anymore and it gets to the point that you wear just for the sexual finish that happens in a short time period.
