As a former child of the 1980's, I loved Rubics Cube, Atari, Walkman radios, and so much more. I loved video game arcades, scating rinks ... boy, oh boy, I could go on and on. Then the 90's came along, and old tapes and records were replaced with compact discs; well, I shouldn't say that it came about in the 90's, because CD's were around in the mid-to-late 80's. They just became really popular in the 1990's. Do you remember the 1980's "Light Bright" peg boards that contained an incondescent lightbulb and different colored pegs? I remember when my cousin had an Easy Bake oven that used an incondescent bulb to bake cakes and things, and I thought that thing was the coolest thing ever. I was fascinated by the way it worked. The thing that made it so wonderous to me was that it didn't open like a conventional oven, but instead, you passed things through it with this long thing with a u-shaped thing at the end of it. I imagined it as being sort-of like a much smaller version of some type of commercial oven.
My brother had a radio-control airplane. That thing was so awesome. He and his friends would gather at the track-and-field after school and fly their planes. Heck, my friend had a chemistry set. I remember when those things were big in the 1980's, too.
I even remember the vintage commercials of the 1980's and 1990's. One of the earliest Pringles commercials came out in 1980, and I still remember the jingle: "We've got the fever for the favor of the Pringles." Big Red gum had that song, "A Little Longer." In the 1990's, Pringles song was "Once you pop, you can't stop."
Bon-Bon icecream was another big thing back then, and its 1990's commercial had a cute little jingle: "The thing about a Bon-Bon, they're almost always gone-gone." TV shows like "Perfect Strangers," "Full House," "Family Matters," "Night Court," "Cheers," "Mama's Family," "The Golden Girls," "The Facts of Life," "Different Strokes," "One Day at a Time," and "Sanford and Son" were big. Then there were the night-tinme TV shows: "Airwolf," "Miami Vice," "Knight Rider," "Magnum, P.I.," "Hunter," "LA Law," "Knots Landing," "The Commissioner," "Northern Exposure," and "Twin Peaks," not to mention "Cops," "America's Most Wanted," "Unsolved Mysteries," "Rescue 9-1-1," and a few of the news shows of the 1980's and 1990's.
Now that I have shared all my memories, I want to know what you remember.
