Adult autism diagnosis information

Does anyone have trouble with sound? My wife seems to not be able to ignore any background noise. She seems to hear everything all at once. Just curious if anyone has a similar trait and has found a way to cope with it.

I hate eating in restaurants. When there's too much noise all I hear is a homogeneous sound, so I tell people I'm deaf.

I got very much sensitive to sound as I grew older: all sound just seemed to turn into one sound, but children screaming shatters my brain. I can't take that anymore.

@BobbiSueEllen she is terrified that she won't be able to handle the sound of a crying or screaming child. We want to have kids of our own eventually. she's been around our young niece and nephew for just short periods ( less than 24 hours) and masks while we are with them, but it always leaves her exhausted for days.
