Changes Made in Q2 (Apr, May, June):
1. Technical Work
Some progress has been made towards moving us to a new, updated server.
There are still many things that need to be done, but I'm still making progress piece-by-piece.
2. Started on Staff Changes
We started off with FruitKitty stepping down.
Further staff changes are to come, but we did start.
3. Miscellaneous Improvements
I've made a few minor improvements, such as the recent limited guest viewing change.
Notes:
An unfortunate series of real-life events consumed a lot of my time/energy this quarter, and left me a lot less time/energy to volunteer for ADISC than I had expected.
So, I did not make as much progress as I had hoped.
Still, I did make some progress, and I'm going to set less ambitious goals for the coming quarter.
Upcoming Changes Planned for Q3 (July, August, September) from Moo's to-do list
1. Replacing The Webserver
- ensure all addons are up to date, and have email notification enabled for all new version releases.
- uninstall any addons we no longer need, like potentially vb-related addons.
- recursive diff of /forum directory against stock, identification and removal of legacy / unused files
- move any remaining things that can be moved, off of the old (current) webserver
- build a new webserver
- pruning of old database data, like unused accounts that signed up 5 years ago
- migrate everything that runs on the current webserver to the new webserver
- switch over the website to the new webserver
- shut down the old server
This is a big project and may require an entire weekend of uninterrupted time doing nothing else, in order to get it done.
Still, I'm hopeful I can get it done this quarter.
2. Rules & Policy Work
In the next 3 months, I hope to:
- Create an incentive for members to create articles, e.g. having a Distinguished Contributor rank where one of the ways to qualify is having an article.
- Consider altering the 'crotch shots' rule to instead require they be posted in specific albums/channels which are opt-in
3. Staffing Work
In the next 3 months, I hope to:
- Add a new articles editor to the staff team to take over management of the articles section.
- Remove any staff members who are not active on the website on a regular basis
- Have a meeting, probably the first half will be a staff meeting and the second half will be open to members
4. Discord Work
In the next 3 months, I hope to:
- Add reaction roles for Discord, including an 'events' ping role
