The only viable alternative would be cloth diapers for everything. With the fresh water usage required to wash all of them, it's actually worse for the environment. Especially now that so many places in the world are having issues with enough fresh water, I can't see any changes coming very soon.

I should add to my above comment that I'm completely incontinent, and have worn 24/7 for 19 years now. To the best of my knowledge, nobody has ever noticed that I am diapered. I typically wear abena M4 as my everyday diaper.
