“im not broken“ by Rhoda lipscomb

I’m seriously in love with this book, it’s a guide on acceptance and how to deal with ABDL. I have known about it for a few years but never wanted to buy it because it would be on my tablet and in my purchase history. But after doing therapy for 16 months now with my amazing therapist I don’t care. It was free with an Amazon unlimited kindle trial thing so I did it. The exercises are helping me understand and name my emotions even more (before talking with current therapist I literally could not name emotions and shoved them down deep - if I had strong emotions as a kid I was sent to my room until I “calmed down” and then nothing was said after). There are two chapters at end for partners and parents. I think I’m going to ask my mom to read them (even though they don’t 100% apply, she doesn’t have control on telling me where I can wear them nor does she has to participate more than understanding I am ordering and wearing around her. But maybe she would go ahead and read the first few chapters annd understand a bit more about it. Not holding my breathe …. She has never googled or read anything on my fibro or anxiety to understand what I’m dealing with.

But highly recommend everyone here to read it.

I actually just had a conversation with a friend of mine in town he ordered the physical copy of the book and is going to let me read it after he’s done in a few days , I’m interested to get an psychological view on this even tho I’m probably comfortable with who I am and going about my life outside work wearing diapers shopping and what not ,,

Ps I hope If your mother reads it she gains some understanding… but like you said she probably won’t want to or care I’m sorry for that

I have a physical copy of the book, read it, told my therapist about it, they read it, then we talked about it. I'm reading it for the 2nd time right now and still learning a lot of things.

The mere existence of this book is a blessing, regardless of it's quality (it's a great book btw). This is because it acts as a argument from authority. When you have a book from a specialist basically saying "look, it's not that weird, nor harmful, or related to mental health and there are more people into it that you would suspect", it's a game changer in terms of convincing other people to accept ABDL. Most people (sadly) form opinions only based on other people opinions, so having an "authority" defending you will make people question themselves.

This ^^^^^ 1000 times over.
I've got 5 or 6 of the "popular" books on AB/DL culture, self acceptance, etc. After you read "You're Not Broken," the rest of them kind of lose their shine because of her credentials.

I've just bought this book for my Kindle. It seems like an interesting read.

I learned about the book about a month or so ago and a couple days later actually bought the physical copy from Amazon and thought all the exercises in the book were very helpful and useful for me in my path to understand and accept myself more. Thought is was written very well. I am now seeking more info to learn more about myself, and how to explain my feelings possibly to others that may need to know.

I wrote down all the exercises that work for me with the ones from my therapist in case I lose the copy when I end the free trial (I MUST look up that date soon so I don’t get charged …)

I'm trying to find other journal prompts to write about. I would take any suggestions to help me accept myself even more through my Journaling
