Why do some people seem averse to Japanese Games?

It seems like most Japanese games that see release out West (in whatever the popular language is in that country) just don't get the kind of sales you would expect

For example Dragon Quest is still a mostly unknown series in this part if the world, with sales in the Low Millions (I have a feeling DQ XI having a Switch version has added to its Westward Exposure and sales it didn't previously have on PS4)

Meanwhile any new FF Game is likely to get 2 or 3 times the sales numbers because FF is one of the few Japanese IPs that has seemed to go Mainstream.

Idk why but it seems like a lot of Gamers have something against most Japanese IPs, unless its something that has already broke into the Mainstream.

Lastly it is rather annoying that some people will act like FF is the greatest game ever, but yet they pay no respect to DQ.

I mean how does one disrespect a game that helped pave the way for their Favorites?

Take away a few of the early JRPG Classics like DQ (it may not have been the 1st, but it was around for 30 odd years since the 1st was released in Japan)

It's like saying you love Platformers, but you disrespect early Mario, even though if not for Early Mario, Platformers may not have became so popular in the 1st place.
