What was your first car?

I’m going to date myself here but my first car in high school was a 73 mercury comet. It was pretty much a luxury version of the Ford Maverick. It had a 302 in it.. It would surprise people with how fast it was.

1999 Daewoo Matiz in green. Bought used for 900 euros when I was 18. Only 800cc, broken radio, broken air conditioning and totally gutless but my ticket to freedom. I drove it from my home country (Spain) to the UK when I moved here with everything I owned in the back on the folded down seats.

I was given a brand new (2013) Peugeot 207 estate with only 100 miles as my first company car. Drove it home and the next day while driving on the motorway a van rear-ended the car adjacent to me which spun and hit mine writing it off. To this date the only brand new car I've driven.

As a person mentioned, this can be, and is a security question for me. But I will say a mid-1950s Ford Fairlane that I got in 1978 at 16, and I still have and drive it. How many can say they still drive their first car that is over 60 years old?

I sure wish I had my 3rd car back. It was a '67 Pontiac LeMans convertible which I built for the 1/4 mile track.

Of all the cars I have had and destroyed, sold, or given away the one I miss the most and wish I had was a 1969 cutlass supreme

Those were nice cars, especially the 442. 1969 was also a good year for US cars, before the tacked on pollution controls.

Some of the cars I wish I'd been able to keep: 1962 Lincoln Continental convertible. 1965 Chrysler 300L hardtop. 1964 Mercedes 230SL. 1960 Mercedes 220S sedan. 1967 Barracuda fastback 383 4-speed. 1969 Valiant Signet 2-door, 318 4-speed. 1958 Plymouth convertible. 1955 Packard 400 2-door hardtop. 1966 Rover 2000SC. 1953 Studebaker 2-door hardtop. 1969 Dart Pursuit sedan, a fully-equipped ex-cop car.
Yes, I've had lots of cars, probably 100.

My first car was a 2009 Honda Civic. I received it as a high school graduation present and still drive it today.

I've said before that I had my brother's 2003 Shelby Cobra in 2007. I loved that car. I finally sold it in 2012. Then I got a new 2012 BMW M3. I kept it until 2018. Another great car.

There's a reason I don't use my first car as a security question, I like talking cars too much to pretend it never existed. 1990 Volvo 740!
Dad has a 2001 S80 and they came from the same Volvo specialist & Dodge loyalist guy we've known all my life. Daily drove her till I had a company car for a short time (2000 Cadillac), then swapped between the Volvo and my current 1992 Cadillac DeVille while sorting the early hiccups from the previous owner. The Volvo has over 300k miles and took me so many places including Anthrocon and An interesting mission to help DJ Jazzy Jeff categorize his record collection for Discogs, plus she got me through a rough time in my life. I still have her, the art of wrenching is never complete, whether you have a garage of 1 or 1,000,000. And I have quite a few! The current plan for the Volvo is based on how Polestar started as a performance wing at Volvo and posing the question: What if Polestar were its own make in those days and shared some chassis with its parent-make Volvo like US carmakers do. That's the idea. But y'know first there's getting the power steering issue sorted and getting new tires for the '77 deville, and some welding on the firebird and so on and so forth,,,,,,, Love it!

There was no Shelby in 2003. It was the 2003-2004 SVT "Terminator" Cobra. Shelby is just a badge whore that came in later to stick his name on and take credit for SVT's later work.

John Coletti/SVT > Shelby

1972 Ford Pinto - chariots of fire. They tended to explode if they were rear-ended. I had traded mine before that came out.

I remember my neighbors sat in their cars on a winters morning trying too start their frozen cars " wur, wur , wur " untill they killed the battery then watch me climb in my Austin A40 ... "wur, wur , wur" OK bit off choke starter hand crank in... one turn and she started , i'd smile and nod at them in their new shiny cars climb in and drive off too work 😁
