Luvs Phases were introduced in the same timeframe as Pampers, this printed ad dates from the early 1990s. These were the precursors to the "deluxe" line launched c. 1994-95.

The following year Luvs Deluxes were discontinued. P&G added leakguards before the switch from plastic to cloth at the start of the second millennium.Fluffydoves said:Pampers went back to unisex in 1997, introducing a nappy that had an ADL under the topsheet, built in lotion and with a hook & loop fastening system. The largest size could hold about 3 cups of water.

Certainly in the UK, Pampers had two lines in the mid to late 1990s- Baby Dry, which was plastic backed until around 2000, and Premiums which were cloth backed when they were launched in about 1995, which was before the end of the gender-specific era, so for at least 5 years (I think) Pampers in the UK were available in both cloth and plastic.Fluffydoves said:Luvs were light blue around the waist and leakguards like pampers.
did the US baby dry have an ADL fitted when they went unisex? BTW, im surprised they both held the plastic covers out as long as they did as many store brands such as Paragon trade, White Cloud, etc had cloth backing by the end year of the ‘90s

Fluffydoves said:The “ultra” leakguards? Pretty sure most nappies had leakguards in the mid 90s.

Yep.Fluffydoves said:Are those baby dry extras the ones in the green pack with a holographic banner reading “extra”
Fluffydoves said:Yes, and we had Pampers Playtimes introduced in 1999, which were cloth backed.
Also, we had ones called “first steps” but I’m not sure of the year.
