Hi, I have very much ben enjoying this thread, has brought back a lot of fond memories. I notice some of my photos from Flickr have been posted, I love vintage nappies, especially Pampers, the ones with the rows of pink blue yellow and green teddies are how they were when I really started getting into nappies (since I got out of them) I didn't have disposables as a child, it's funny as it seems logical that people seem to have a fixation on the style of nappies they had as a child, not so for me, I have tried terries and plastic pants, but not only do I find pinning them on difficult, I just cannot get a snug fit, and the plastic pants are so uncomfortable as welI, I feel sorry for my baby self having to wear those horrid things!
I really do not know why I really wanted to wear a disposable but something was triggered in my mind, I have a feeling it may have been a nappy advert, I do remember Cosifits, cant remember if Pampers were here then, but I do remember there used to be a song we sang in the school playground which was obviously based on the Cosifits advert, sang to the tune of Hokey Cokey, a bit nasty when I think about it but you know what kids are like, it was something like Electrificated (is that even a word?) nappies, they make your baby happy, you switch them on, BANG your babies gone! I don't remember actually "wearing" Cosifits though I'm pretty sure it was Pampers that was the first disposable nappy to end up between my legs, hence my obsession with them!
Other brands I remember some of them came out a bit later, of course Peaudouce, which for some reason I do not remember any adverts, I know there was because I have seen them on Youtube, but I don't remember them so I never knew how to pronounce the name, I called them Poojuice!
I remember Togs and Huggies, never was a fan of them, I saw them as the enemy of my beloved Pampers! I remember some of the store brands, the Boots ones that i saw photos here, they seemed very familiar, the Sainsburies once look more advanced then I remember, the ones I remember were quite basic and they had little pale blue bunnies on the front. Superdrug had their own nappies, probably still do but back then they were called Tickety Boo. And there were really cheap ones like Happy shopper ultra nappies. I remember buying a pack of them with my pocket money I saved up, I couldn't take them home because my parents were home, they were out but got back early! so I hid them behind a bush with the plan of retrieving them alter. obviously I did not hide them well enough because when I went back there was all this white stuff shredded around over the grass, looks like some kids had found them and thought it would be fun to rip them apart, I did manage to recover a couple though!
Well, enough reminiscing, I will post some pics of my vintage nappy collection later, even though some have already been seen.
