As of today, if you don't have the "Country", or "Gender" profile field set on your account, you'll get a notice at the top of every page, asking you to set it.
In addition, the "role" profile field is now required to be filled out when registering or updating your profile.
In future, having those fields filled out may become a new requirement to get (or keep!) the Established Contributor rank.
Before I make that change, though, I want to provide ample notice to anyone who doesn't have those fields filled out, so they can fix that before I potentially make it a requirement for EC rank.
Part of the reason I'm doing this is that I want to foster a greater sense of community here, and more complete profiles help with that.
The other part of the reason is that having more complete profile info, especially on registration, helps me prevent spam bots and bad actors from signing up.
