Lying or sitting down usually make it easiest. But they also lead to harder cleanup because if it's loose it spreads.

Typically if I have to go I just go. If it happens while I'm in bed, which is a common occurrence, I will turn on my side to go, or occasionally I'll just go while laying there. If I'm standing, usually a slight bend of the knees, does the trick. It's all about what's comfortable and manageable for your body.

If your poopies are solid, it doesn't matter as much. If they tend to be softer be caseful; sitting down or lying down increases the chance of a blowout up the back. Since I tend toward the runny, usually do it standing up and clean up and shower right away.
