Oh no! - my 'cold' turned out to be Covid!

Well, it had to happen, didn't it? On Friday, I did a lateral flow test and it was negative. But I did another test this morning, and it was positive! 😟
So what happened? Well, a female work colleague had her partner test positive for Covid. After testing negative, she turned up for work on Tuesday. However, the following day, she phoned work and said that she'd tested positive for Covid. (It seems that she and her partner had caught it from a plasterer who was doing work at their house).
Phoning work this morning, it seems that most of the other staff now have Covid. Our Executive Director said that even though she had tested negative, he should have made the female colleague go straight home.
As for myself, it feels like having the mother if all colds.(I have a high temperature, feel congested and tired ).
There is one silver lining - since I am self-isolating, there will be plenty of time for sissy 'stuff'.(If I feel up to it!).

That sucks! I hope you are feeling better soon, and I’m glad you are still feeling yourself. For me, it took a few days of wrestling the bug before I felt up to anything diaper related. That was still while I was working my may into it though, so I wasn’t doing much of that anyway.
I thought mine was a cold too, but by the end of my shift it felt more like a mild flu. This was doing a winter storm, so I was stuck there overnight, but was able to convince our GM to get me an Uber home where I tested positive. My folks whom I housesit for were home though, so they made me a plate of Christmas dinner.
Get well soon!

Take it easy and get well soon!

I hope you don't get long term symptoms. I suffered from exhaustion for over a year. 😭

I hope you get better soon and try to enjoy the isolation. It's annoying when you are at home sick and can't enjoy the time to dress or be a sissy, so I hope you feel up to it.

Wrap up well, and get better.

As with all cold symptoms, you need to feed yourself high energy to cope with your immune system ramping up. What I suggest is that you leave the drugs and alcohol alone (unless your doctor has prescribed same), and instead, get yourself some honey and lemon juice (spoon full of each) in a glass of hot water and drink that a few (3-4) times a day. What I also suggest is that every day, if you can, you go for a 10-20 minute walk in a local park away from everyone just to clear your head and lungs. The excercise and the fresh air will do you good. If it means that you are going walking early morning or late evening, so be it.

The last thing you need to do is take pity on yourself and/or enhance your depression - a common symptom with people self-isolating. You need to really push yourself to move. There are enough couch potatoes in this world, you don't need to add to the collection.

Hugs and take care of yourself.🤗

Get well soon. I caught it about two years ago and it was like a severe cold. Got over it in about a week. Have you had it before? I have had all my boosters etc (5 now). I still would not like to get it again.

I've had it three times and never really felt bad, just the standard flu symptoms. I think the fact that I never believed the hype was a big help.. But you're right about the sissy stuff!!!! A week off to be Amber, get diaper rash, and binge porn.

I hope you make a quick recovery. I had a choir member contract the new covid and she stayed out of choir for a couple of weeks but she did well with her recovery. I hope you do as well.

I guess if you can. For me when I’m sick—even with a cold, my sex drive tends to be nonexistent t until I feel better.

Have you had the migrating backache yet? It starts at the neck/shoulder region, works down to the sacroiliac over 3-4 days, getting progressively more painful. Any NSAID will handle it but increase the dosage 50% above the label-specified dosage. How's the temperature doing? How hot ya getting? Is it steady or on-off ("roller-coaster")? And for the grand-daddy of symptoms: how's that taste & smell doing? CDC says you should isolate for 7 days and for the 4 after do the ol' "mask-slather-gap". After that...home free!

And I hope you find ways to keep amused during the ordeal. The hardest part of it all is the boredom. Seriously.

I hope it's not bad for you.
I didn't get it until May last year - and it completely knocked me out.

I have to admit, I didn't believe in 'Long Covid' - but having it myself changed my mind! I now have nothing but sympathy for everyone suffering from it - it is real.

It took a few months before I felt 'normal' again. I was having to go & sleep in my car at lunch time at work & making it through a whole day without falling asleep at my computer & dribbling on the keyboard was tough.😅

Luckily, not everyone gets Long Covid. but even if you do, it does improve over time. It's just a slow progress.

Seems quite normal to be two days into a "cold" before you test positive these days. I think you should assume any cold is Covid for at least three days -.

I hope you are soon better

Thank you everyone for your kind words and advice. This is why I love this forum - there's always support for any member who is having problems.
Mentally, I feel fine - it's just my body that is giving me grief at the moment. When I have finished my period of self isolation, and tested negative for Covid, I will let you know.
In the meantime, once again thank you for your kind thoughts - they are greatly appreciated.

For me with any illness, that is the most relieving hurdle to clear. Once you feel like yourself again things usually look up from there!
Glad you’re looking up!

Try catching up on watching a few films you haven't ever seen

Good idea! In fact, as it is Halloween, I watched a Dr.Who dvd - "The Daemons", a classic Jon Pertwee-era story featuring Roger Delgado as the Master. I really enjoyed it!

When I had Omicron, I tried watching TV and I'd just fall asleep. That little bug made me really sick for about 6 or 7 days. Fortunately this strain isn't as bad but it's more contagious. Again, I hope you get well quickly.

Today, I watched "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever " on Blu-Ray, which I really enjoyed.
My neighbour kindly got me a bottle of semi-skimmed milk, which I greatly appreciated.

Neighborly love may be rarer than it once was but it still exists. I’m glad your neighbor is looking out for you. That’s a sign of a healthy neighborhood for sure!
