You do know that clothlike is also made out of plastic, right? It's actually more of a hassle to turn perfectly good plastic into a clothlike abomination. The success of companys like Northshore and Betterdry for example might even lead to a resugence in plastic backed products. Less chafing and better odor protection are valid and superior points. Clothlike is just delusional. "See, it looks like cloth. Just like underwear. So don't be so sad that you have to wear diapers again, sweetie" Blech...

Cheers
I think there's certainly life in plastic backed adult diapers, I actually don't understand why plastic backed babies diapers just lost popularity other than marketing and generational memory sort of thing as cloth backed diapers became normalised and the generation of Parents who had kids in the 70's - mid 90's didn't anymore, although they now have grandchildren

I thought they disappeared already

I hate the lint that first forms in friction points of cloth backed nappies, usually in inner thighs contact area, and then painfully clings to hair.

How environmentally friendly is the SAP used in diapers? That may render concern about plastic-backed diapers rather moot, depending upon whether the answer is skewed toward "not at all" or "extremely" I suppose.
The SAP is an interesting issue. I don't know the implications of its manufacturing process but there is a trend to dig it into the soil to increase water retention, so presumably degrades

Under 40 and I really hope plastic-backed diapees linger forever.

I loathe the perspiration of wet cloth-backed diapers and the chafing they cause. Also they get cold much quicker than plastic-backed, which turns out very uncomfortable. I´ve given them many chances and yet the experience keeps being the same.

It blows my mind how diaper companies market cloth-backed diapers as "premium" products (Abena, InControl, Attends...). No matter how good brands are, all cloth-backed diapers have the same three issues I mentioned above.
Mega Disposables marketed their flagship Sani Sensitive Extra Protection with woven nylon covers and velcro tabs. I personally tried them and was not happy with the lack of crinkliness which I compensated by using a plastic-backed Maximizer booster.

They lasted only a year, prompting the Acharnes-based firm to bring back the much desirable crinkly plastic backing.
