Hey everyone! Trying to see how many people have gaming computers on here!
I built mine in 2016 and it has been faithful to me ever since! Recently upgraded(downgraded?) To a Samsung 860 QVO 1TB SSD from a 2tb Seagate barracuda. Gave the barracuda to a friend who needed it for a security system!

Case: NZXT Phantom Full ATX Black/Orange
Motherboard: ASROCK Extreme 4+ Z170
CPU: Intel i5-6600k @4.2 ghz stable
Cooler: Corsair H100i AIO water cooler
RAM: 16Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 2666
GPU: Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX1060 6GB @ 2100 Mhz
PSU: EVGA 650w 80+ Gold
Storage: Crucial 256gb M.2 NVME, Samsung QVO 1tb SSD
Windows 10 Pro
Asus WiFi card,
Corsair Void headset, corsair ironclaw mouse, razer ornata chroma keyboard. 50" hisense 4k primary, 32" TCL 1080p secondary.

Why is there such a huge tie between being a DL and being a computer nerd? Maybe I should try it XD

There are a few common characteristics in DLs that I've noticed so far. Alot of us are very smart, very hands on people. I think thats alot of the overlap tbh. We like things that are complex, as we are not so simple ourselves. However, we long for that simplicity, so thats what brings us to diapers, atleast from POV.

I have a gaming laptop that I bought 2 years ago during the crypto craze when graphics cards were waaaay too pricey.. and it's still going strong! It can run most modern games very well at 1080p but it is definitely beginning to show it's age. I definitely want to build a new computer soon as I would like something more 4k capable.
Anyways, here is the specs of the laptop:

Make: MSI GT73VR 7RF
Processor: Intel Core i7-7820HK
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
RAM: Hynix 2 x 16gb (32gb total) 2400MHz or so?
SSD: 1x Intel 1tb m.2 nvme PCI-E and 1x 256gb m.2 SATA SSD
HDD: 1tb 5400RPM
Monitor: 27" Dell D2719HGF: 1080p 144hz via displayport
Keyboard: Microsoft Sidewinder X4
Mouse: Coolermaster Mastermouse MM711

Even though it's a gaming laptop I use it like a desktop PC 95% of the time, lmao

I used to have a gaming pc that I built back in 2014 but I let my little brother have it after I started college. He upgraded the cpu, gpu, motherboard, and ram last month. Right now I have an egpu set up with my MacBook that I dual boot with windows. I have a 1070 and I wish I spent a little more money to get 16gb of ram on my laptop so games would run better. I won’t make that mistake next time I am shopping for a laptop

I was going to build one with a ryzen 5 3600, GeForce rtx 2070 super, b450m pro4, 1-2TB ssd, 16gb ram, 1440p 144hz monitor and whatever cooler/case/peripherals were a good deal. Now I'm going to wait for Nvidia 3000 series cards and ryzen Zen 3 chips.

Just ordered a Color Maximite 2 kit so that son and I can dabble with making our own games. Would have been my "dream computer" back in the 80's and early 90's when I was first getting into computers and coding.

So I think it counts. ;)

(For those who don't know, this is a sort of "retro" machine that boots to BASIC like so many 1980's 8-bit computers, but has a zippy modern ARM CPU and graphics and sound capabilities on par with early-90's game machines.)

Also I forgot to add. I guess I sorta break the connection. I'm more of a Little/IC than I am a DL

Almost identical to my build - same board, same card, same cooler but only 1x 1TB SSD and 1x 500GB NVMe and both monitors 1440p @ 120hz.

Great minds think alike. Though I think I'm probably get whatever the highest gaming gpu of the 3000 series is to keep ahead of the VR performance curve

I started out with a pre-built from HP but it evolved into a complete custom build two years later.

Case: Cooler Master MB311L ARGB
Motherboard: ASUS TUF Z390 Pro Wi-Fi
CPU: Intel Core i7-8700 @ 3.20 GHz
Cooler: 3x Corsair LL120 RGB and 2x Cooler Master 120mm fans
RAM: 32 GB Corsair Vengeance Pro (2x 16 GB)
GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Founders Edition
PSU: EVGA 850w 80+ Gold
Storage: 1TB HDD and Toshiba 256 GB SSD
Windows 10 OS
Peripherals: Corsair Void Pro headset, Corsair Strafe MK 2 keybaord, Corsair Glaive mouse, Corsair MM800 Polaris mouse pad, and Corsair ST100 headset stand.

The only things left from the HP Omen Obelisk prebuilt I bought a couple years ago are the CPU, hard drive, and SSD. Everything else has been replaced.

I always build my own - the one I currently have is about 2-3 years old. (BIOS updated since initial install)
Although honestly I don;t play games much (not unheard of though) it is a "gaming" system board in it/ I also do NOT use Windows at all, just Linux.

Monitor is actually a 4k TV - but I set resolution to 1920x1080 to make it axtually possible to see text without setting a huge font size or DPI - but change it if I have a video file that is a higher resolution than that I want to play.

I have both Linux (currently Ubuntu but I'm not a fan of it - I use it because it's one of the "approved standard builds" for Anaconda/TensorFlow) and Windows. I use Linux for anything remotely productive. I use Windows for playing Skyrim and ESO. They're the only two things that DON'T run well on Linux for me. (They do run but I have audio routing issues for some bizarre reason - I miss the days of ALSA - not a fan of GNOME 3 / PulseAudio / systemd hegemony.)

WINE got MUCH better over the years (Windows emulator) and with PlayOnLinux real easy to use - but no still not perfect. HOWEVER, if you just want to use a few Windows Appz/Games but won't work with Wine/PlayOnLinux - I would think it would be easier/more worth it to Install Windows as a guest OS with VirtualBox (Don't bother myself - but have set it up for others that way, I do use it; but mostly for verious DOS versions/DOS clones [favorite is DataLight ROM-DOS - built in 4 digit year disply in file list, as well as far32 support, anf long file names, also shown in standard file directory - no issue so far with MS-DOS or FreeDOS appz downside, NOT free] - or for testing [any OS based boot]).

Mine is kinda old technically, about five years now, though it still does everything I need it to do. I didn't build it myself, but another babyfur did. I have had to add/replace components though. Except I haven't bothered to replace the dead wifi card. I'm not going to be too specific here... just the basics...

i7 4790k
GTX 970
16GB RAM
128GB SSD, 1TB SSD, 2TB HDD

Built mine about two years ago, love it very much.

Ryzen 7 2700x
16GB of RAM @ 3200hz or whatever
MSI Radeon RX 580 8GB
Some Gigabyte Motherboard, I dunno.
Main SSD: Samsung M.2 drive @ 256GB
Overflow SSD: Kingston Drive @ 480GB
Backup "Mecha Drive" for storage or games without long load times: 2TB Seagate at 7200 RPM.
650 Watt gold power supply

Future upgrades could include maxing out the ram at 32GB and possibly a second matching GPU, though that's a huge maybe. Most games don't support Crossfire, and since my monitors max out at 2k/60 frames, I wouldn't see much improvement. Heck, I play most things at 1080p anyway just to keep temperatures down. My GPU runs pretty spicy.

That's a good build combo especially considering the price of it all
