Best Completely Free Steam Games ?

What games on Steam, that are free and do not contain DLC / Microtransactions, do you think are the best?

My personal list of good free games I've played:

NaissanceE - platforming and puzzle solving game, set in artistic environments. Several fun easter eggs.
OpenTTD - build and manage transportation logistics networks using rail, road, air, and sea.
SuchArt: Creative Space - very well made art simulation game where you can paint on any surface in your studio.
TrackMania: Nations Forever - best keyboard controlled racing game I have ever played.
Yume Nikki - surreal multiworld exploration game where you try find all the areas and items.

Honorable Mention:

Griptape Backbone - not very well made game, but an interesting surrealist experience

Open TTD is my favorite one so far on the free list.
 
I play Trackmania, and was going to add it to the list 'till I saw you did the favor. 😀 It is a great, long running title. I've been playing it since socket 478 days! I like Creativerse and Warframe, though. Creativeness kind of creeps me out when those wild animals come out at night, though, XD.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but epic offers many free games, some of which are really good.
 
Another member here, @TheGrimmRetails , mentioned the game Endless Sky to me. Its a completely free space game. You start out as a small time spaceship captain with a mortgage to pay. You take on delivery missions, trade missions, escort missions and many more specialized missions to make money. Its a very large and well written game. Its very sandbox feeling as you can do what you like in a huge galaxy. You can even be a pirate and raid and capture other ships and demand tribute from planets if the good guy route is not your thing.
Id highly recommend it.
