Anyone have Tumblr accounts here? Wondering what other platforms others are considering after Tumblr removes it's adult content including abdl on Dec 17th.

I spent so much time on tumblr. Loved it

Their stock will plummet when they do.

But after the 17 I eont see that site staying useful I would go to abdl.link

Had a tumblr, it’s probably gonna be dead after this. Guess if Abdl.link is really the new place I’ll check it out. Really sucks because it seems like this is just gonna shatter the community all over the Internet. It was quite huge on tumblr just cause everyone was accepted on tumblr.

Never heard of abdl.link, seen some other suggestions on Tumblr but seems a lot of current Tumblr users are switching to Fetlife and Instagram.

To save time I'm just going to cut & paste my comment from my main Tumblr:

Tumblr hysteria?
I’m beginning to think this Tumblr / Adult Content issue may not be that big of a deal for most ABDLs. Why?

Much of the panic revolves around the idea that you need to back-up all your content before the 17th. But as I understand, your content won’t get deleted, just hidden from public view: (Starting on December 17, 2018, any post(s) that have been flagged will be reverted to a private setting viewable only by you. ).

Another source of panic was how at first pretty much all ABDL content was flagged, along with poor, innocent Garfield the cartoon cat. Now most stuff is clear again.

The review process works. I’ve requested review on numerous posts, and each time received an email saying that my post was improperly flagged.

In exchange for keeping access to the amazing ABDL community, I’m ok with giving up my explicit porn. Yeah, I’m super-pissed that my more porn-tastic Tumblrs that I’ve curated over the years are going to “go away”. But there are many more places to find & share porn–great ABDL content is much harder to find. It looks like we’ll still be able to share our content. Just no boobs, butts, or genitals. I can deal with that …

Thank you for your input, one of my favorite platforms that I've found. I'm ok without the nudity. Abdl, link looks like it might be nice too, haven't made an account yet though.

ABDL.link is part of a larger network called the Fediverse. The Fediverse is a federated network made up of over 3000 "instances" (most of them running software called Mastodon). Each instance has a different owner and different content policies. Each instance's administrator decides which other instances to connect with.

If you sign up for abdl.link (or one of the other kink-themed instances in the Mastodon network), here are some things to keep in mind:

  1. Public Mastodon posts are visible to people on other Mastodon instances and to people (and bots) on the public web. Keep this in mind when deciding what pictures to post and what hashtags to use.
  2. Mastodon has content warnings (CWs). This is a way of putting part of a post "below the fold," so users have to click to see the full post. People use CWs for anything that some users might not want to see, including explicitly sexual things and anything having to do with politics.
  3. If people on a non-kink-themed instance follow you, your posts will appear in the "global timeline" in their instance. So be considerate about NSFW content. Your profile picture should be SFW. The administrator of abdl.link has arranged for all images other than profile images to be marked sensitive to users of other instances (so they'll have to click to view). You should still use content warnings for anything sexual or anything else some users might not want to see (especially politics!).
  4. Most Mastodon instances are moderated by real human beings who take moderation seriously. If you see abusive posts or posts that break the rules, report them. Don't call people out publicly. A lot of people came to Mastodon to get away from the angry call-out culture that is common on some other social networks.
  5. It's obvious, but it needs to be said: abdl.link and the other kink-themed instances are strictly 18+.

Just go for it. I've already moved my ass over to abdl.link and I think you should too. Fuck Tumblr nowadays and fuck internet censorship!

With all of this build up to what we all expected would be an explosive end to Tumblr, with them erasing a large portion of blogs on a Monday in December... I logged in to find most of them still around, and a few pictures that specifically violated their new terms showing up in my feed. I guess it's more of an organic process?

I still have my Tumblr.

Whether or not I stay depends on how my content feed gets affected. Besides ABDL and nsfw content there's a couple other things I enjoy about the site.

Like SFW regression, nostalgic content, art, and funny videos/pictures.

Am staying off the site today in protest however.

Hi Sheepies, what's your Tumblr name? Some other users loaded lots of photos within the last day, hopefully we won't lose everything, I personally enjoy the sight.

Lots of people are deserting it which is unsurprising - if you can't trust them why stick around? A lot of the blogs I follow are saying their farewells and moving, a few are not deleting in case it's not as bad as they thought but they're unlikely to actively post again. So many are blocked/blurred/invisible and have lost content, had backups fail, etc. which is just shitty on tumblr's part - just make the blog invisible to all but the owner and let them do what they like with their content in their own time.

A real shame as tumblr seemed to have grown a great community of alternative folks (so many internet startups would KILL for even 1/10th the community spirit they had) and have now pissed it up the wall never to return, since the internet doesn't forget and it's the work of moments to start a very similar platform - at least 10 alternatives appear to have sprung up in their wake, including abdl.link, bdsmlr, mojofire, cumblr, etc...

I'm not on any of the new ones yet as I'm waiting to see where the cards land, I don't want to sign up for 5 different sites.

I don't want to sign up to a bunch of different sites either. I discovered Tumblr from another abdl site that would post photos from Tumblr and Instagram a few years ago. I don't believe the photos were stolen but we're posts by individuals with multiple accounts with different platforms and a link to their Tumblr or Instagram platform. I can't remember the name of this site though. The only change I've seen on Tumblr as of now is the necessity to click on a link of a Tumblr page warning you of sensitive subject matter.

Tumblr is, unfortunately, owned by Verizon. I don't think Tumblr would make a dent in their stock price even if it disappeared suddenly. If it were an independent company then yes I would not expect them to survive this.

As the alternative is Verizon being up in court for allowing kiddie-porn on their platform I'm pretty sure the execs don't give two hoots as you can guarantee they don't understand or appreciate what they had and probably would rather see it die a slow death than tarnish the reputation of their fine company with any female-presenting nipples.

Unfortunately for all the progress in tolerance, equality and anti-discrimination, society as a whole is still squeamish about sex and sexuality. Let's face it, it's still not exactly 100% normalised that some people are gay, but it's a hell of a lot less likely to raise an eyebrow to say you're gay as it would be to admit to being ABDL or furry etc.
