Bad business if the TEAM is not coordinating prescription medicines with the Pharmacist !
Two or more medicines making a TOXIC cocktail that can kill you or make recovery efforts difficult if not impossible
-OR- two or more (Expensive) medicines cancelling their effect resulting in throwing money down a toilet.
AND of course not taking any medicines that should be taken but alas ever shortening your life span.

So take two of these and call the undertaker - Oh that's right he is not in the loop either - Just great !

Best get that urinary problem checked out thoroughly your life longevity depends on it !

Uh, we have that EXACT same system here in the US. It is the responsibility of your pharmacist to make sure prescriptions won't interact badly with each other.

Poster BabyLock1 is in the USA.
My father was a pharmacist and I have heard all kinds of bad things happen to good people unknowingly taking the wrong combination of medicines prescribed and self administered.
Pharmacists are doctors of body chemistry and the medical doctors need to work as a team to prevent unexpected adverse side-affects including death !
On TV when the ad tells you to "tell your doctor and/or pharmacist of all medications you take" they do mean ALL - even simple baby doses of asprin and OTC (over the counter) drugs.

Take living and health care seriously !

And ozziebee we are referring to is in Australia. What's your point?

And yes, you absolutely need have someone coordinating which prescriptions may react with each other (including OTC's). Do you honestly believe though, that some specialist at one hospital is going to even be able to coordinate every prescription you are given from some other specialist at some other clinic? They DO attempt to do this with that list of current prescriptions you're supposed to keep updated, but a lot of patients fail at even that. You can't blame the doctor for a patients failure, now can you.

This is why they all recommend you have only one primary pharmacist. So that person can coordinate all prescriptions you bring to them. Both in the US, and in Australia.

I unfortunately have to use three because my primary pharmacy doesn't have a Medicare part b license I get my diabetic supplies at another place , and all my opiates, muscle relaxants and my bowel care stuff comes mail order , but my usual pharmacy has a fomplete list ,all my specialst are networked so in the computer i have one file that they all access when they see me , and my GP is basicly lost , i carry my electronic medical records as well as wear ID with a serial number and pin code they can call an 800 number or open a browser puch those numbers in and theres a complete copy of my medical records, copies of insurance cards my will , and who my health proxies are and how to contact them if I am unable to speak for myself and so Far this preparation has saved my bacon 3 X 's.

I am probably the most overly prepared patient you'll meet. Because there are lots of things that could go wrong if someone didn't have knowledge , like the drug we use to paralyze patients to intubate a patient would be fatal because certain MD patients have a genetic mutation that makes us allergic to entire classes of drugs and anesthetic's .
