I bought a new truck recently, a pair of them actually. I bought an 89 and a91 square body GMC suburban! Why two? I'm using one as a doaner truck for parts and accessories. I picked up the pair for $3400 and sold my 2003 for $2500. I've already saved at least $800 in parts I would have had to buy! I'm having fun with it all! I enjoy fixing things and I really love this old school beat of a truck! There's a Lot of work to do still, but it's been a ton of fun so far!

Now that it's freeway safe, I've got a ton of improvements in store. I'll lift it 3in, load on some 33in tires, I'm going to paint it flat Black and burnt orange, and add some side steps. Then I'm going to build a removable platform and storage system with slide or drawers and add a bed inside for camping and hunting!

It's not much to look at yet, but it's coming along!

The new suburbans have nothing on the older ones. The old ones are so much bigger, and I personally love the style and design of them.

Gotta love old suburbans, i have had 2 of them in the past, a 78 with a 454 and an 85 with a 6.2 diesel that the p.o had installed a banks turbo kit on. Made a lot of camping trips in both of them

I AM ALSO INTO OLDER TRUCKS, HAVE A 46 CHEVY AND A 55 LCF, I WILL SEE IF I CAN LOAD THE PHOTOS, BOTH NEED ENGINES RIGHT NOW AND HAVE NO CLUE WHAT TO PUT IN, THE 55 IS A 95 350 STOCK AND THE 46 IS A 454, PROBLEM IS I HATE MECHANICAL AND WIRING, LOVE BODYWORK!

If you lift it, you might have to change the suspension and brakes. Listen to someone who knows what to do to keep it safe.

I love that '46 truck. Old cars and trucks have so much charm and individuality.

Woah, I love that 46! Hard to find those!

@Seasonedcitizen, thanks for the concern, not my first rodeo on this one though. It is actually only a 3" suspension lift. Break lines are plenty long. Once you got 4" it changes everything... It moves from a $500 job to a multi thousand dollar job. 3" also has reasonably minimal impact on center of gravity. The larger tires are also wider, which helps compensate. Some people get crazy with lift kit, mine is super mild.
