Are mediums thicker than larges?

I’ve had this with a number of brands now.

I’m between sizes and the mediums are often snugger but seem thicker.

In particular I’ve had this phenomenon with:

Formacare XPlus
Drylife Slip Super
Drylife Slip XPlus (M4/L4)
Molicare Maxi
Molicare Elastic

Is this a thing whereby there’s the same amount of padding but compressed into a smaller area for the mediums?

Just curious…
 
I feel like most sizes are the same type of thickness depending on the brand but I’m just assuming that.
 
From what I've found M & L are same the thickness
but generally L's absorbency ratings will be higher than M but that's because there is more length / width padding not thicker
