1980 chevy malibu

1969 Chevy El Camino Now, this car was given to me from my sister and it was originally purchased by my oldest sisters husband and was used as a work truck he had a Gardening Business and his father owned a Japanese Restaurant in LA Calif. he would need to get Supplies if needed.
The only problem is when I got it; she had over 250,000 on the 350ci 350hp 4 bolt main engine and she was tired, had backfiring thru the carburetor, timing chain was hitting the cover and the gears were crewed up and the Camshaft was Beat to Hell (they wouldn't take it as a Core) The upper end was bad and showed all the wear, while the lower end had only minimal wear. My friends dad was a Mechanic and Machinist for over 30yrs and he rebuilt the engine and me and my friend did a complete restoration on it which took aprox. 1.5yrs.
Gave it a custom Black paint w/red Carpet and the rest Black interior. This cost me over $6k and I was 21, and regret getting rid of it.:cautious:

If you want my absolute first car it was a ‘55 Chevy Nomad wagon, 265/powerglide, that was a rust bucket that I bought a year before I got my drivers license. I traded it to a friend who had a body shop, before he told me that you could still buy replacement quarter panels for it, for a white ‘64 Chevy Impala convertible with a 327/powerglide. Dad talked me into giving it back and getting cash instead and I then bought the ‘69 Chevy K10 4x4 pickup, 307/3 on the tree, dad was going to trade in for a new ‘72 Chevy 4x4. He sold it to me for what he was getting in trade for it. I pulled the 307 V8 and dropped in a 375 hp 396 big block V8, but couldn’t find exhaust manifolds for it even though I knew that Chevy made rams horn style manifolds, like those used on small blocks, that would work for it that were used on their 366 big block V8’s in 2 ton trucks. The owner of the salvage yard where I got the 396 took it back and built me a strong 327 small block V8 for it with which I promptly tore out the output shaft of the 3 speed transmission and the extension shaft/adapter tube between it and the transfer case while trying to show off for the the salvage yard employees. I found out later that the 3 speed transmission Chevy used in that 68 4x4 pickup was the one that they had previously used in the ‘55 - ‘56 Chevy cars with 6 cylinder engines, definitely under strength for the 4x4 application. So after repairing the pickup I sold it and bought a ‘68 Chevy Nova with a 6 cylinder and 3 speed on the floor my Junior year in high school which later got a 283 V8 dropped in it in place of the 230 inline 6. So in my first 2 years as a vehicle owner I had 4 different vehicles. I’d love to have the ‘55 Nomad and/or the ‘64 Impala convertible today as I’ve got the skills and the resources to restore those classics now that I didn’t have back then. That’s the “short” answer with a bit of added detail.

Not saying cos it's often a security question 😝
Security tip: never use real answers to those questions. Treat them as just another password, because that's what they are. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming....

The first car that was really "mine" was a 1972 Chevy Nova, burnt orange, that my parents let me have. Did a little enhancement over the couple of years I drove it (added an intermittent wiper controller I built myself, and of course, the CB radio) before trading it in on a new 1977 Datsun pickup truck (blue, of course). I've had small pickups ever since. That Datsun had a manual transmission, which I had a little experience with in my brother's Dodge Powerwagon 200 (with snowplow), but I learned a lot about gears and clutches on the way home from the dealer 😂.

1967 Ford Fairlane. I put air shocks into the rear end. It was multiple colors where I changed out body parts. Rotted floor under the driver seat so I kept a big metal toolbox behind the seat to keep me from rocking backwards from a fast start! LOL!
But I could keep it running. Those days!

2002 Audi S4 with a manual transmission.

It was totaled when someone rear ended me in college

I'm guessing you wish you still had that Nomad wagon. I know I'd love to have one

Second generation Ford Transit van. Blue 1.6 petrol.

By the time I turned 16 and got my license I had 5 vehicles all of which were in decent shape and a couple were really nice, I don't remember what order I got them in but I'll list them all.

1973 Pontiac Grandville 455/TH400 58k miles
1980 Buick Riviera 350 129k miles
1964 Ford F100 292/3 on the tree 269k miles short wheelbase
1967 Ford Mustang coupe 390/4 speed
1984 Ford F-150 300/T-18 89k miles short wheelbase

The 64 f100 and 84 F-150 are still with me today though both need restoration and repairs they are still roadworthy and legal. I know where the Riviera is and could buy it back for nothing but I don't need or really want it. The Pontiac and the mustang I've never seen since I sold them... of course it would be the 2 I've never seen since that I wish I still had.

Also between the time I got a license and now I've owned a couple hundred cars, trucks and even a van or 2, I've slowed down a lot since it's gotten to the point where you can't buy these 2-300 dollar cars anymore.

Besides the lack of a shifter, the car's been great! I love it!

A Morris Minor. Lovely car - you could open the bonnet and see what everything was - and fix it yourself most of the time. (Not like today's cars!

I am addicted to cars as much as diapers, my first car was a 50 Olds Holiday 88, but had a model A pickup (pickup-not a car) before the Olds, model A in 7th grade, olds in 8 grade, 57 Chevy for my 16th birthday, a 61 Belair the next summer and a 66 mustang when I was a senior, On my 26th Birthday I had had, 62 cars and have never stopped, 38 -1969 Camaros, 3- 68 Camaros 3- 67 Camaros, 2 -1970 Camaros, right now I have over 70 cars and trucks. It's to bad u can't eat them, because there were many times I needed food much more than the cars. Can't say I am not happy having all these vehicles and diapers also!!!

My first car was a 1962 Rambler that was my parents. It wasn't all that but I enjoyed driving it. It was your typical one barrel carburetor and 3 speed clutch transmission.

I got my older brother's 2003 Shelby Cobra. I got it in 2007. Nice car.
