We've been watching Obi-Wan Kenobi. It might be unpopular opinion to go against Disney. Even as a huge Disney fan, because we both really are. Obi-Wan Kenobi really feels like Disney is stretching it here. The scenic style feels off, there are scenes that are not as believable. I really think they made a huge misstep here. That said, Flea(RHCP) as a villain as opposed to Bill Burr was a sound choice to make. Bill, even though I love him was a poor choice.

The series is enjoyable sure, but it does feel like they are messing with the holy religion that many people call Star Wars :p Are there any Star Wars fans to begin with on here? If so, have you seen Obi-Wan Kenobi? What did you think about it? Also, how does this one compare to The Mandalorian or The Book of Bobba Fett?

Offtopic:
Watching the animated series and so far it's been pretty good actually.

I’m enjoying it, although I am struggling with Reva as a ‘baddie’
I expect she’ll turn her back on the dark side before the series is through.

I didn’t like Mandalorian, felt that the individual stories were a bit cliched…..although I didn’t make it through to the season 2 finale.

Wow I feel like I'm in the minority of those who enjoy Star wars shows no matter what. I loved the mandalorian, loved boba Fett until it felt like the show wasn't about him as much as it should be. I don't like he decided to be a good guy crime lord. He was Darth Vader's favorite bounty hunter and even fought him one time, and even beat Chewbacca in a fight. The book of boba Fett focused too much on fennic shand and the mandalorian. We only really saw boba fight for real in the finale, but freaking Mando was there to help save the day with grogu! We all wanted to see bad ass boba Fett doing crazy shit, but he was in his bath robes the whole time. That disappointed me. Kenobi episode 4 was some of the coolest star wars action we've seen in a long time, and I think the final 2 episodes will be straight fire. I'm not a fan of ahsoka tano's look. I can't believe that was the best they could do with her hair (whatever they call her hair). I really hope they improve it for her show. When I bought Disney+, the 1st thing I did was watch the clone wars series. All 7 seasons, and I absolutely loved it. And I'm glad I watched it, otherwise I wouldn't have recognized all the returning characters from the animated series.

Oh. I was born in 76 so I grew up with Star Wars. It doesn’t matter how bad or how good they are. I love them all. Even the Special movies with the Ewoks. And Jar Jar Binks too. Then the Mandalorian’s and Obi-Wan Kenobi came out, I’ve been in love all over again.

I have never liked the cartoon series so I don’t watch those.

@Forced same here I tried to watch the Mandalorian cause my uncle said it was good but I found it really boring, but I haven't watch obi wan yet do you recommend it?

I really loved The Mandalorian and The Book of Bobba Fett. It's just that Obi-Wan Kenobi has to many obvious mistakes in there. Some break of characters. The awkward chase scene with Leiya. I don't really like how Disney puts famous people in their shows so out in the open. That would be something that George would've never done like that.

Also, the Fifth Brother character doesn't sit right with me. All I can think is Mortal Kombat :ROFLMAO: They could've done anything with that. Why the voice.

Then there are some story inconsistencies, i'll be honest I wasn't really all that aware off.

The Mandalorian is actually really good. It's a western set in outer space. So if you don't like the classic western tv shows storytelling you might not like Mandalorian. I thought that that was very entertaining although it possibly could have been a little better.

For Obi-Wan Kenob, i really had higher hopes for this show. Ian MacGregor is a great actor as always but every other character here is falling short. I don't care about the villains. You have to hate the villains just as much as you like the hero.

Look at batman. The villains are just as good as the hero. Not that Batman needs propping up but a good villain will always prop up the hero. Break the hero down to give him a chance to rise back up.

Not getting that from Obi-Wan. Still a Star Wars fan and do plan on watching.

You mean The Adventures of Little Leia and Simple Ben? The heartwarming stories of Little Leia a precocious future leader and her mentally challenged care taker "Old Ben"?
Yeah it a hot garbage dumpster fire of ridiculous writing and canon destroying "writing". Obi Wan and Darth Vader do not meat again till Episode 4, there is no meeting between the time Anakin looses his fight and gets maimed on Mustafar and Episode 4. Kenobi is not a idiot that would break character while be questioned by storm troopers. The list of garbage just gets bigger and bigger with each episode.

Got to break out Little Leia from a bad guy base? Never seen that before...... but sure why not? Oh lets make this bad guy base so dangerous and scary that it has no weapons and is an easy target because it is so scary that no one would ever attack it as it has no weapons and can't defend against any simple attack....

Need to smuggle a 10 year old out of a base full of people that can sense force users? Just smuggle her under the robes of the nearest Jedi....
Little Leia escapes? Well we got a tracker on her so we can see where they take her.... You mean back to her parents? On Alderan? Let the Simple Bed escape? Sure why not we got a tracker on him so its all god now.... Why not just keep him as he is all that matters? Well we got to find the Jedi underground railroad first... But catching Simple Ben is all that matters....

How is Little Luke doing on Tattoine surrounded by Imperial Forces? Who cares, he will be fine, its not like Simple Ben could protect him or teach him how to use the force.
Simple Ben has lost most of his force powers as he no longer masterbates... I mean practices using the force, but he is ready to teach Little Luke how to use the force..... Wait its all ok by the last episode, Simple Ben has regained his force powers after a good talk with a friend about his feelings, now he can use the force to hold back the immeasurable force of millions of tons of water that threaten to crash the pipe he is in.

Little Leia is a bad ass super intelligent future leader that can use her natural strength in the force to fight back mental attacks to read her mind from a trained force user, but at the same time no one is freaking out and talking about how much natural talent she has in the force, or planing on making her join the Inquisitors, they are more focused on torturing her to get the rebels secrets and find out the location of the Jedi Underground Railroad that she obviously knows as she is a future leader of the rebellion and super smart for her age. Little Leia is also pretty stupid refuses to follow directions as she knows better than Simple Ben.

Ultimately its another Last Jedi. Disney is already trying to deflect criticism by blaming racists attacking the actress who plays Reva, a character that at this point has not been fleshed out and is not much of a character and has not done much in the show other than be a "MYSTERY BOX". I am sure there has been ugly people saying ugly things to her, there always is in these kind of productions, but its not why the show sucks and its not the source of the criticism directed at this poorly written cash grab that hates the fans its trying to rip off.

I really liked the Mandalorian, especially season 1. It's very much a classic western TV show done starwarsy though, which I think it why I like it.
I gave book of Boba Fett a chance and stopped watching midway through.
I'm not even going to bother with Obi Wan, based on what I've heard.

As for where I'm coming from -
I'm not a fan of modern Star Wars.
I was a huge fan of not just the movies, but the books, comics and video games when I was a kid. This was back when the original trilogy was all there was in terms of movies or TV. (I'm not counting the holiday special, that wasn't well known or available back then).
My opinion started going on a downward spiral with all the special edition changes and just got worse with the prequels.
After that -
Episode 7 was just kind of OK... 8 was all over the place with occasional cool ideas and moments mixed with just the dumbest crap. 9 I didn't bother seeing.

Good.

People take Star Wars was too fucking seriously, to the point they ruin the content for themselves.

I called “Book of Boba Fett” a necessary violation of the “new unopened package” that defines too much of Star Wars fandom. That’s how I feel about most Star Wars content. “Was it fun?” Not, “Was it true to Star Wars?”

If you loved Baby Yoda and the Mandalorian, wait till you see Little Leia and Simple Ben. Keep buying our product! But this is not about commercialism, its about being powerful We have toys! Just stop thinking about the illogical writing and lack of sticking to Canon, because ultimately nothing really matters! In fact if you don't like the new Star Wars it is your fault, just take a hammer to your skull and keep hitting yourself till you enjoy the turd sandwich we have served you! SHUT UP AND CONSUME!

@Aby, while you did a very hot take there, you are pretty much reading my mind on most the small things I've spotted as well.

Consumerism has always been there. It's is true and only logical to see that coming though. 😅

Okay I'll say this. Episode 3 didn't make sense to me, only the part where Vader managed to set obi wan on fire, put the fire out before it could kill him, then walk away. The reason Vader's in that suit is because of fire. His rage is legit fire, and he's not going to kill his master the same way he killed him? Anakin Skywalker died that day and Vader was born, he was born of fire. That should've been the perfect way to kill him.

SPOILER ALERT
Don’t read if you haven’t seen episode V

Who’d have thought it, she’s not a ‘baddie’ after all 🙄

It’s getting more ridiculous with every episode, I sometimes wish the TV/film companies would just leave the ‘classics’ well alone and stop making crap prequels/sequels for the sake of a buck.

Errrrr, IMO it’s an improvement on The Mandalorian but by no means unmissable TV.

I’m sure you’ll be seduced by the dark side and watch the thing 😉

So to an extent I have like all the of the new movies, shows, and extra's they have released for Star Wars. Of the new movies Rouge One is by far my favorite and is actually one of my favorite Star War Movies all together. Madalorian is my favorite show and the Clone Wars my favorite Cartoon. Obi-Wan has been good but I have not gotten into it as much. I especially have a hard time with the fact in a New Hope Vader stated " The last time we met I was but the Padawan, but now I am the Master". They seem to have completely disregarded that line. Other then that it is super cool to see his struggles as well as Luke and Leia's childhood.

I think the line was when you left me, I was but the learner, now I am the master

That’s another issue for me.
** Don’t read any further if you’ve not seen the latest episode**

The series tries to create tension when we know, due to the original films, that certain things don’t/won’t pan out.

Reva will keep trying to kill Vader……we know she doesn’t succeed.

Ben is worried that Luke and Uncle Owen will be attacked and killed by the Empire…..we know they don’t.

Princess L was kidnapped and threatened with death…..we know she ends up alive and safe with her parents.

Add that to the other story issues (mentioned by others above) I will struggle to finish the series

Ah yes that is the line. I knew I was quoting it wrong when I put it in there 😬 . Still same principle applies as I was saying, the way Vader and Obi met in the show does not fit in with that line.

Spoiler warning

Episode 2 Leia "Im just a little girl and my droid friend broke and I can't fix it! I am not technically minded Help me Obi wan!"
Episode 5 Leia " I need a ladder, I can fix the hanger bay doors!"
Adult - "ok princess playtime is over"
Simple Ben - "Duh.... I believe in her, get her da ladder!"

Also lets have maintenance areas that cannot be reached by adult humans... dont they have droids? Do they usually carry a 10 year old girl on board for such instances? How the hell does Leia fix wiring destroyed by a droids laser?

Why does the laser canon not work against a big metal door, but a lightsaber has no problem cutting through it like butter? Why even carry a big ass gun that requires an entire crew to use if a lightsaber can be more effective?

Vader after revealing the truth to Reva "Fooled you!"
Reva so brave so smart, lets attack Vader after hes done attacking the retreating Obi-Wan and recovered form using his force "power meter". Apparently they were just using Reva to get to Obi-Wan because ?

Oh and apparently a lightsaber isn't that lethal, hope its not to late for Qui-Gon Jinn, or Mace Windu.

Lets send a message to Simple Ben and openly talk about the biggest secret in the known universe that everything depends on and leave it unencrypted. Hell lets make Simple ben soooooo simple that he fails to delete such sensitive data as it could never ever fall in the wrong hands.

It's like everyone started sniffing glue the minute disney took control.
They could have made a well written show, they could have made Leia tech smart as a little girl, kinda like her daddy, they could have shown her finding the broken droid in the trash and fixing it, with her insane tech skills.

They could have made Reva an amazing character with depth, instead she's just stupid and spends most of her life infiltrating the group that murdered her and her friends, and joins in on the same behavior she is trying to get vengeance for, and she blames Obi-Wan for not being there as her personal protector when Anakin attacked? Also how does she know Anakin and Vader are the same person? She saw Anakin kill her she did not know him as Vader. Simple Ben knew Vader was the new name given to Anakin by the Emperor before they fought on Mustafar but somehow simple Ben is tooo stupid to figure out Vader and Anakin are the same person, but Reva somehow put 2 and 2 together?

This is Spaceballs material, I look forward to a new golden age of movie and tv spoofs based on current trends in entertainment.
