This kind of relates to my post about what the thickest diaper is, but I was wondering if anyone had purposely purchased diapers a size above what fits them, and how it fits. Can you still wear them? Are they baggy, or do they make you feel smaller? Its just an interesting idea lol. Let me know šŸ™ƒ

They leak everywhere and fit weird
Definitely buy for your size (unless you're using it as a double diaper XD)

I did on the hospital's advice, the nurses there are skilled enough to make a large fit on someone that fits a medium.
Though it works better when sleeping instead of being active because then it might leak

Bought some large diapers by accident, I wear mediums. They leaked BAD!! I found the tighter and more snug a diaper is, the better it will absorb.

When I first started wearing, I ordered a bag of Abena L4. I think it was too big. Felt like I was wearing a plastic bag on my hips and wasn't too pleasant. I've also worn an unknown cloth hook and loop XL diaper that was way way too huge. The tapes were overlapping and I had to wrap around the diaper to keep it snug. Neither leaked though

It's all a matter of degree. Assuming a decent tape job, a diaper that's *slightly* baggy is generally going to be better than one that's very tight.

Up to a point, a diaper that fits large is harder to hide, and definitely causes a bit of embarrassment and/or little feelings. One that's grossly oversized (e.g. a MegaMax in large when a supreme in small fits you perfectly) eventually passes the point of ridiculousness and no longer causes any feeling other than "I'm wasting a diaper".

There are definitely some tricks to making a big diaper fit well. Mostly wrap the top tapes like a belt (if they overlap significantly, it's too big), and run the bottom tapes diagonally upwards from the leg openings. Assuming that you made a good seal and take some care to reach down the top of the diaper and arrange all the folds such that they don't channel pee straight into the leg openings, it should work just fine.

I think I made a mistake when purchasing the XL size of Rearz Princess Pinks.

While they fitted me perfectly, I felt like they were ā€œtoo muchā€ in space- too much empty space, no chances of me going. šŸ˜” Kinda killed it if you ask me.

I did it after trying on the large sizes but then they crushed my balls- ā€œreally badlyā€. But I guess itā€™s the only size that wouldā€™ve worked. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø Lord I donā€™t know.

Some people use the larger size when they double diaper. They make slits in the inner diaper so the excess urine flows out to the outside diaper.

I've got a 32" waist, so I'm the middle of the Medium size range. But medium padding doesn't go high enough in the front for me for sleeping... or when my girlfriend is around.. or when I'm thinking about her..., so I wear a large most of the time. I've never had an issue with leaks. I do need to tape the lower tapes down and angled a bit if I'm going to be active, but for sleeping, there is no real difference in taping other than the tapes are closer together. My ex-boyfriend wore extra larges, and put me in them on occasion, too. They didn't leak either, but the tapes were overlapping and probably wouldn't have held up without extra tape if I had planned to go running around like that. My current girlfriend wears a small, but there are more cute diapers in medium sizes, so she wears them most often. She has no leak problems wearing medium, and likes feeling "Smol" in them. I've put her in some of my Larges, and she can wear them leak free, but the tapes are useless as the wings of a large wrap almost all the way to her other side.

Size M diaper fit perfectly for me, also with a stuffer. However, sometimes I like to wear L as well. Therefor I have purchased some L diaper, mainly BetterDry are on stock now. I use the L diapers with one or two 2xl booster that I insert under the fabric layer of the diaper. I wrap the lower tapes as far and tight around my legs as possible. Thereby the upper tapes can only be placed around in the middle of the diaper height. I use some white tape as a third tape level on the top of the diaper. By this I get a nice huge oversized diaper with high raise at the back and front above my navel. Feeling of that diaper is still quite loose (depending of the about of boosters). The diaper can leak quite fast depending on where the fluid is going, so I must be more careful when using it. It is not practical and does not take way more liquid, but it is a nice feeling sometimes.

Often the pad itself is the same size regardless of the size (varies from brand to brand) and itā€™s just the plastic thatā€™s longer or wider.

As a girl larger sizes always leak

In the hospital experiencing urgency incontinence and bedwetting. The times I was not catheterized I used diapers

hospital nurse always managed to put a size large attends diaper on me snugly even though it was huge on me the front of the diaper up above my belly button.
the times I changed myself I could never get the huge diaper to fit properly or snugly. I have no idea how the nurses put the same diaper on me snugly

I love wearing a size bigger than my regular size. Normally I would wear mediums, but I would opt for larges. I feel like I could regress in the diapers more as they wrap around me with more extension and giving me that baby-ish feel of being wrapped in a large diaper.

I would only wear a size larger at home. I feel like that doing so in my own personal space has allowed me to feel younger at heart and I know that it is a safe place to also enjoy the regression. Whereas doing it publicly, discretion and privacy is something that mattered to me more. It's fun having a larger adult diaper around your waist as it does sag and droop more - the more you wet the diaper. The weight of the core from all those wettings creates openings around the leg cuffs. It simulates wearing those Pampers or Huggies baby diapers that droop so much when you saturate their cores, but in the adult form.

I always loved it as it gives me a cute diapered butt look. Being able to make an audible hissing sound while peeing, or being able to produce a stream and have it hit my diaper, it makes me feel a bit naughtier too, but at the same time, proud for being the diaper lover I am.

Well, IMHO unless the tapes literally cannot be fastened the diaper is ok on size. even if they touch in the middle and/or even overlap a bit.

It takes a while to know how on your body to get them to fit, currently my tapes are about 1.5-2" from touching, i could go down a size then that also means less side coverage of the padded area and less capacity overall too...

Some diapers no matter the size didnt fit me well an leak, but for me megamax and before the molicare fit the best, most the AB diapers never would fit right and store brands are not an option IMHO.

I am IC and have been nighttimne in diapers since birth, so i have a bit of experiance...

I will also say that when my ex used to do my diapers (she is a nurse) she could do it way faster then i could for sure, like 5 seconds and done, but my hands are not the best either, but that said, gotta get the sides smoothed out around the sides which isnt easy, and get the tapes centered and snug and in just the right place.

I have done others diapers too and i think its actually easier to do someone elses diapers than doing your own, they are not as easy to do oneself, think they are made for another to put on :)

But, also in hospital they use large diapers for the same reason i think too, less leaks, less work....even though they are not super capacity, they change them like every wetting, i think it was like every 2 hours when i was in the ICU the whole time i was in, other than when i had a cath in (was in coma for about a week).

Bigger is good for a lot of things

On a few occassions I have received the larger sized Nappies (slips) sent in error, on each occassion I was told to dump them ( I cannot throw out one unused Nappy never mind a whole pack) so of course I used them, my experience doing this was very positive as with them having so much plastic spare they really wrap around your body giving a real feel of security although the padding is just the same size and absorbancy as the medium slips was and yes they leaked just like the mediums I usually wear.
On the whole a very positive experience especially in the comfort and security sections of our Nappy wearing.

I've a luck to can use M or L size without any problem.

I dislike the (lack of) comfort of larger sizes having much more material between the legs, and the rise on the front/back - the former leads to chafe/sag and too much space inside, whilst the second needs me to roll it back down (and then back to lack of comfort again). But I really don't find sizes too large to seal well around the seat for me regardless of how I finagle the tapes with only few exceptions (and, by then, I'm concerned about ripping off the tape as I try to pull it tight). Some brands have a rather large step-up between sizes.
