I have been incontinent for around 6 years now, because of an operation when i was 16. I was having a kidney stone removed, the doctor made a mistake and rendered me urinally IC. As for how i became fecally IC, i have no idea. I just noticed one day that i couldn‘t control my poops anymore 🤷
What about you guys?

My urinary incontinence came on slowly with back and leg pain and still comes and goes. After seeing a urologist and neurologist, apparently I have these cysts on my spinal cord that cause the nerves not to work.

Wow. That sounds horrible 😔

These things are all things you cannot control nor wanted. Question, how do/did you cope and come to terms with this? This is such an impact on your daily life.

Also, what about significant others?

I have zero dramatic stories to tell.

I simply just am. Starting from age 12, I started to become incontinent in terms of my bladder only. So... here we are. Technically I'm diagnosed with overactive bladder but it's anyone's guess as to why.

Ive learned to just live with it. I mean, sure, it still has a massive impact on my life, but i try to just go along with it and kind of pretend its not happening.
I do have to see a psychologist once a week for stress problems, and a neurologist once every two weeks to see if its gotten worse/better.
I usually cope by using stress/fidget toys.

Well that is good to hear 🙂 I've never had any fidget or stress toys but always wanted that ball bearing spinning disk thing haha

Or the plastic wrap bubble 😂

Life can be weird like that I guess. Not everything has to be dramatic of course. It's just that I never get used to this type of stuff because it's all to real.

In addition to urinary incontinence was erectile dysfunction, which was the biggest cause of stress in our relationship. Fortunately, Viagra helps. I’ve had some pressure from my significant other to wear a diaper, as it’s less embarrassing than wet pants.

My story is similar to Phoenix)'s. I had surgery when I was 14 years old that resulted in major complications and left my incontinent.

My U-IC started after a couple of decades of type-2 diabetes. Doc says nerve damage from high glucose levels. A year later, I struggle with F-IC somewhat, but I am holding on to what control I can muster.

as for me I became incontinent because the disc between my L4 and L5 vertebrae slipped it started with bladder problems but has recently progressed to bowel problems as well because the slipped disc in my spine went untreated for 7 years not that I'm not trying to find help is that until a month ago i lived in new jersey and a lot of the doctors there spent more time filling their prescription quotas and padding their wallets with pointless tests like an EEG when I have no history of seizures i am hoping the doctors here in South Carolina are more the sort to fix the problem. even if at this rate my incontinence may be permanent because the nerve damage caused by the slipped disc wasn't fixed in time but still would be better than it getting worse enough to lose use of my legs

one of the things that made it difficult was that an entire practice network banned me because the urologist i saw knew i was autistic from my profile and she still mistook my autistic fidgeting as for me playing with my meat (for context this was during covid so all doctor's appointments were video call if they didn't directly have to touch you)

I got an overactive and painful bladder starting in 2018/2019 when i was 42 years old. It got worse over time and ended in loosing control when standing up to pee in a puddle on the floor in December 2020. I was diagnosed with Neurogenic Detrusor Overactivity (NDO) and Detrusor Sphincter Dysfunction (DSD) some month later. The neuro-urologist told me it was because my spine looks bad and the discs L2 to S1 are ruptured. I never believed this, but i have to admit, when my back pain is worse i have got more problems to realize how full my bladder is.

Now the evidence is high that i have got brain damage in the brain stem what causes the bladder problems, i will get an MRT someday this year to check for MS or at least diabetes insipidus. We will see.

I have been incontinent for 10 years. It is caused by diabetic related nerve damage. In fact if I hadn't become IC then I doubt I would have known I was diabetic.

How I found out in my mid 40s, was that I developed this insatiable thirst for grapefruit juice (it was summer). After a few weeks of that, I thought to myself, this is crazy. How many ppl love grapefruit juice that much?!?! So I went to the clinic to be tested and the doc said I was wasting his time -- until he read the results. He apologized three times before I left. I'm on insulin and Janumet 20+ years later.

Get your eyes checked if you've not already. There is a serious chance of blindness with prolonged high glucose levels. I am currently fighting that and more.

My incontinence is from degenerative disc disease and a ruptured L5-S1disc. The incontinence was an intermittent problem for about a year until August 2018 when I completely blew out the disc and became fully incontinent.

I think my incontinence all stemmed from an incident when I was around 7 or 8 and we had been on a family out and I needed to wee oh my goodness did I need to wee !
I can remember standing by the toilet letting it go for what seemed like 5 minutes to point my father said "get on with it we all need to toilet".
That was when it all changed and instead of having an average capacity bladder I went to wee 3 or 4 times more than my peers, it was a bit of a joke really but I was never bullied or told off about my constant toilet visits.
I was already a Nappy Lover even at that tender age but never thought anything of my new small bladder or even using Nappies because of it, my parents would have gone ballistic if I ever asked for a Nappy because of it.

Years later of course things just got worse and now I am here with pretty much dual incontinence and getting very slowly worse.
But on a plus side I now have to wear my Nappy 😀😁😂

BPH which causes occasional OAB. I'm a slow leaker for the most part. I go between pads and pull-ups. I can have days that I'm almost dry and others 3-4 pads or 2-3 pull-ups in a day. At night I wear a pullup, again overkill but I don't want to get the bed wet.
