My doctor has known for a long time that I wear diapers by choice, for comfort. We were discussing the oddity of my kidney numbers and she mentioned that she's seen stranger things in her career and I joked, "like grown men wearing diapers by choice?" and she said, "you'd be surprised how many men come in here in shirts and ties with nice, lacy lingerie on underneath. Diapers aren't that weird, if you ask me." "Whatever makes you less anxious is okay in my book, especially if it's not alcohol, drugs, or self-harm."

I would’ve been more weirded out if a male patient of mine is wearing women’s panties into my office.

That’s cool your doctor is understanding.

Funny enough my doctor was one of the first people I told I was wearing diaper's. Long story short, I went in to ask for short term anti-anxiety meds until I could go into therapy. He and the assistant were very professional about it but I didn't get much chance to ask him about his opinion. I might ask next time I see him how common it is.

Curious how that line of questions went - did you tell them you were wearing diapers as a soothing mechanism for your anxiety? Did you say something along the lines of, "My anxiety is so bad that I've taken to calming myself by wearing diapers..."? I ask because I have never thought of telling my doctor, but I have also never been able to bring myself to admit my anxiety is bad enough to need medication.

Ah long story. Had a mental brake after trying ABDL diapers a year ago. Knew I had to get into therapy but was a week away. I was having physical reactions to the breakdown so I went in to ask for a short term prescription. I told him and the assistant what happened and that I'd be entering therapy for trauma and needed something so I could function until I could speak with my therapist. They were very professional and he even refilled the prescription later because I still needed them as I started EMDR.

Im sorry for your medical troubles, but it sounds like you have a good Dr. That is worth more then gold sometimes.

My Doc was ok with it. My therapist and friends gave me the majority of the help.

I'm glad this went well. I haven't brought my diaper wearing up with my psychologist but I might eventually. When I had my first meeting with him, I talked about a psychotic break I had when in college and how my mom sent me to The Carrier Clinic outside of Princeton. I told him I was there for three things, the psychotic break, gay porn that my mom found and I told him I was too embarassed to talk about the third thing as this was my first meeting.

I guess the door has been opened a little but I haven't felt the need to talk about it, but wearing diapers usually puts me in a much less depressed mood so that would be the reason to talk about it.

My counselor said the same thing. She asked how the decision of wearing diapers was made? I told her that the urologist suggested to my wife to try him in diapers . After just a week, my wife was convinced that the diawere the answer, especially the short term.
