I am going to confuse all you youngsters. My first VCR wasn't a VHS, it was a Betamax! * Insert scary confusing music here* I taped The Breakfast Club from TV and watched it over and over again as a teen. John Hughes was the architect of my teen years. His movies are fantastic.

I later found my parents porn videos and realized why we kept the Betamax years after we had a VHS machine!

When I was child, at end of 70th and early 80th there was no VHS in my country, we had slide projector😁Gulliver`s travels was my favorit. My father bought the first VHS player in 87 and he could buy some illegal cartoons from the 'imperialist countries'. Mickey mouse, Tom&Jerry with original language, we couldn't understand but were watching them weekends to weekends...

Hm! When I was a kid VCR's and yet to be invented yet. What we had where Rabbit Ears and 1 TV. I know I know what the devil are Rabbit Ears. Well that was 2 antennas that sat on top of a TV that you could adjust for better reception. We had 7 VHF and 2 or 3 UHF channels. We went from hudge solid state tv consoles with a TV in the middle a record player on one side and a radio on the other. Our entertainment in the 70s where playing with friends until dinner. It wasn't until the early 80s that VCR's started coming out but they where expensive . As prices came down eventually we got one and recorded programs off the TV. (80s version of on demand in). Now you can find anything you want and watch it whenever you want. I don't remember what the first movie I got but I have over 500 VHS tapes and atleast as many DVD's. It is so much easier to have everything at your fingertips.

Ahh my dad has always been a big movie guy. I always had plenty to watch. We'd be at the video store 2-3 times a week to rent stuff.

Back in the 90s, most grocery stores had video rental sections as well. We'd go to the grocery store after school to get dinner and I'd get to rent a movie. I had plenty of tapes too - all the Winnie the Pooh shorts, cartoons, etc. My dad had two VCRs rigged to each other and loved to bootleg stuff lol
