Passed out and voided

For the second time in a year I’ve passed out on an airplane. Both times,

I was 4 hours into a 5 hour flight today when I woke up from a nap feeling nauseous. i tried to eat a banana and snacks quickly but I started sweating with in a min. Next thing I know I wake up dripping sweating, I feel my bladder still peeing (thankfully diapered this time) and I have someone sternum rubbing me with 10 people gathered around. (My wife called people over right away.) Didn’t know where I was at and felt like shit, they said I was out 2 mins roughly.

The nurse on the flight said she guesses my blood sugar was in the 20s and she’s only seen someone go out the way I did, face stuck, eyes open, body stiff and unresponsive with a heart rate of 150 right after waking up but then back to 50 after eating sugar.

Had some orange juice and lots of snacks and felt a little better. However this is the second time. Luckily I was wearing a diaper this time cause I was with my wife but last time was for a bachelor party.

Blood test says “pre diabetic” so nothing they can do for me.

Anyone have any ideas?

well, that sounds like hypoglycemia, which is the opposite of diabetes or even pre-diabetes. I know because I used to have that when I was younger and now that I’m older it’s the opposite and I’m actually type two diabetes. Sounds like your blood sugar is bouncing back-and-forth. You should definitely go see your doctor to figure out what’s going on.

60 is bad enough! You were in the 20s??? That's approaching death's door. Get to a doc, immediately.

You were clearly kissing death's door!

The medical comments above clearly define your needing to see your MD NOW!!! Add the effects from the induced atmospheric pressure, plus varying percent of oxygen and people commonly react differently compared to being on the ground. Since this has happened twice, your flight days maybe limited without medication and supplement oxygen. But, that will be determined by your MD and more than likely a couple of different specialists.

Yes, wearing a diaper helped eliminate some level of embarrassment, but that far out weighted by the medical issues that clearly aced the diaper wetting.

Sounds like you had two warnings now and what you do with them is up to you but consider this, you may not get a third! Don’t you think that you owe it to your better half not to put her through this again without at least consulting a physician?

Airliner cabins are pressurized to a 7,000- to 10,000-foot atmosphere equivalent, depending on your cruise altitude and the aircraft design. To you and your apparent condition, that's hypoxia. Seriously...take all this to Doc. This needs immediate attention.

I have gone to two different doctors already and they both could not find anything wrong through blood tests, EKG or ultrasound. I’ll have to try a third when I get home this week.

It sucks cause the symptoms are getting worse over time.

It's not clear which glucose measurement was used, but if they gave you orange juice and snacks, they must have felt that you were "low" (indicating mg/dL).. Clearly that 20 mg/dL (or about 1.2 mmo/L in Canada) is very dangerously low. As @BobbySueEllen said, you're at death's door.

If you are taking diabetes meds then you're mismanaging it somehow (too much meds or not enough food intake).

If not, then perhaps you have type-1 diabetes.

Either way, get a doctor familiar with diabetes since this is a life threatening situation for you. This is not some "pre diabetes" condition.
