i’ve always had a really weak bladder but over the past year it’s gotten substantially worse and i think it’s time i see a doctor. i never really thought of it as a problem until it became more of a problem and i realized it was past the point of being what some may consider just a “weak bladder” and it seems to be harder to manage when i’m stressed and anxious. i have to get a pap done and some other tests anyways as cancer in that region runs in my family so i will bring it up at the doctors and see if i can find out if there’s something more going on 🤞

Definitely talk to your doctor & get referred to a urologist
they will run bunch of tests & see what's going on

will do for sure! it’s a little scary for me to get tests done and what not so i’ve been putting it off but i think i’m finding the courage to get the referral and get it checked out.

Do get those tests done, It's always good to be over precautious when it comes to health issues.🙂

Truly great advice as changes in urinary activity is a common notification that something has or is changing!

i’m not sure what kind of tests they’ll run but i’m assuming if i explain to them my situation they’ll know what to do since they’re professionals. trying to see if there’s anything specific i should be asking them but so far i’m not sure what else to ask

i slightly hinted it to my sister and she said she had noticed a slight change with age in her bladder but it’s not the same as mine and she also told me to go get tests done since i’m concerned. hoping my insurance will cover most of the costs

Any update on your conversation with your doctor? At your age they will likely just tell you to practice kegel exercises, but hopefully they listen and don’t dismiss you.

What have you been noticing specifically? Does your diaper end up wet without you realizing you were peeing?

she told me my anxiety is to play in it and if i think it’s more serious then she wants me to see a specialist but im hoping it really just is the anxiety. she also recommended trying to make set times to go to the bathroom to try to go and make a routine. i always realize im peeing but there’s not always a long enough time frame that i can hold it for from the moment of feeling the urge to wet. i do want to work on this for sure if possible. luckily my diapers won’t fail me!

I had a similar issue a few years ago. Stress from work was causing me to experience symptoms of overactive bladder. My doctor wanted me to talk to a therapist, and one of the things she recommended was to actually wear diapers during the day (she knew I already wore them at night). She felt like the anxiety I was experiencing we just get compounded by more anxiety, if I was worried about having an accident all the time, and if I could be more at ease because I knew I was wearing a diaper and wasn’t going to wet myself, it would help.

You may want to explain to your doctor that you have worn diapers during the day, just in case, and that it actually helps ease your anxiety. Ask if there’s anything wrong with doing that to try to help your peace of mind. You may find that anxiety is circular, and once you aren’t worried about having an accident, some of it starts to go away.

yes i’m going to see my doctor today for a regular scheduled check up and for some other stuffs so i’ll try to bring that up along with everything else. i always feel bad coming to her with so many problems all at once but i know it’s also her job 😵‍💫

When you visit your doctor, don’t just try to bring up the question — make it the very first topic of the conversation. I read of a study a while ago that showed how doctors should be aware that the average patient does not reveal his or her greatest concern early in the appointment, and may not reveal it all if the doctor doesn’t gently encourage full disclosure.

I have a similar reluctance to reveal my troubling health concerns, so I always give my health-care providers a prioritized list of my complaints, with the most worrisome or troublesome of them at the top. Nearly all of my health-care providers express appreciation for the list, which actually saves them a lot of time and becomes part of their record of the appointment.

Peter and I do not always agree, but on this subject, I find myself, 100% in agreement! As a Real World, 24/7, U-IC, I always provide a list of what concerns me as one of the reality of being IC is; I have lost to IC, one of the important indicators of the onset or worsening of serious medical and/or emotional issues. I am old and I am losing friends and family to cancers and other medical issues because of their failing to admit they are having IC issues!

i actually made a list this time cause i had a lot to go over with her but it went well i think?! she seems to be really understanding and has no issues giving me the medications and referrals i need for any of my issues it’s nice to be taken seriously and feel seen and heard.

I thought about going to the doctor because I usually can make it to the restroom when near one, like even when I was out with friends at a concert a while ago I needed to go, after standing up,but couldn't wait in line so I told them just stand there I'm going to go in the grass,I usually wear a diaper but didn't because we went to my friends after the concert, also after sitting for so long I really need to go, or if i wake up, unless the bathroom is right there its hard to hold it..and if there's a line or a big wait it seems I can't make it, kinda like when you need to go and your see a toilet it gets worse lol, Which is one reason I wear diapers, the other is I like them, I think if I did see a doctor they would probably say just use the bathroom more... I did have a issue a few years ago with protein in my urine but the doctor said it's nothing and said unless I'm having a issue I shouldn't see a urologist... it wasn't as big of a issue then... because I had a different job and was near a bathroom at work..
