Following on from a news story today in the UK, about a couple who were in the process of renovating their house when they discovered 100 vintage girly mags, a rubber doll and some discarded women’s underwear under the floorboards, whats the weirdest thing you’ve found when moving into a new abode?

When my GF and I moved to our old cottage a few years ago we found an ouija board hidden in a hole in a cupboard.
Never had the nerve to use it!!!!

Don't you can draw low level spirits into your life it's like a moth to a light. You must know how to protect yourself before ever using one.
The board doesn't teach you how.

Was it one of *those* kind of rubber dolls that girly mags might inspire someone to, erm, use? 🤔😳

That’s creepy. Do you think the house was haunted?

During college, myself and 2 other red blooded, testosterone fueled young guys rented a large 3 bedroom house w/a finished basement. My roommate Steve was putting things in a basement closet when he let out a VERY loud “YEE-HAW, FELLAS”!

Steve had found a large box chocked full of m-a-n-y girly magazines AND dozens of heterosexual porno VHS tapes!

Needless to say, all three of us thought Christmas had come in July!

We were, ummmmm, “occupied” for many, many weeks after Santa-Porn arrived!

Note:
Think “American Pie 2” when Stifler brought the box of porno tapes to the boys at the beach house…very similar!

When my wife and I moved into our first house, we were surprised to find a cabinet in the kitchen jam-packed with booze. There were several unopened bottles of various things, all sorts of glasses, ... Sweet! Let the move-in party begin!! The previous owners of the house had been living elsewhere for a while, and had paid a moving company to get the rest of their things as soon as the sale of the house had been finalized. I have a feeling that the moving company had a policy against taking that stuff, presumably to avoid violating any laws dealing with the transportation of alcohol. Well anyway, it was a nice little unexpected gift.

It was also sort of an amusing coincidence. Shortly before I was born, my parents bought a prohibition-era house in Seattle. We ended up living there until I was about a year old. Anyway, that house had been used by bootleggers, and had all kinds of secret little cabinets and other hiding places. There was even a blocked-off tunnel that had at one point connected the basements of my parents' house and the one immediately next door.

This tickled my curiosity; I wonder how many houses in Blaine still have smuggling tunnels underneath them that lead into Canada and other forms of bootlegging infrastructure.

My mom once told me that when she was in junior high (as they called it back in days of yore) her English Literature teacher read "The Telltale Heart" to the students. He dimmed the classroom lights, and read by the light of a very small desk lamp on his podium. He had a practiced cadence and a captivating delivery, and the atmosphere was made more tense by the ticking of a small clock which he had placed inside the podium. He activated the clock while the reading was already in progress. Perfectly timed, he yelled the line about "it is the beating of his cursed heart" and the clock's alarm went off. 🤣 Several of the students screamed... and my mom's best friend peed herself.

My girlfriend and I went to see Jaws together for what I thought was for both us our first time. I was deceived! Her and her mom had gone the week before and when I freaked out when the severed head came drifting down and into view through the hole that was broken into that sunken boat‘s hull she sat there CALMLY. Terribly damaging to my fragile male ego, but a scene quite effectively pulled off by Spielberg….and my girlfriend!

Well, they weren't professionally mummified, that would have been a bit off, but super cool. They were just 3 cats who had died and dried out. Not sure how 3 would have wound up being under the house.

On another note, I helped repair the ceiling in my Grandmother's kitchen. It was an old mill house and She had bought it in the 70s and at that time it was already 100 years old. What was the kitchen was originally the back deck.
When I cut the ceiling out to repair it, a bag dropped to the floor and made a noise like coins hitting the ground. We were so excited. But when we opened the bag we found tobacco tabs. They were decorated metal clasps that came on tobacco. Most were painted, but was fading and chipping off. Still cool to find.
