Do you need a fursona to be considered a furry

Maybe something like this has been asked before, but I'm curious. I have consumed furry art for quite a long time, but have never felt the need to make a fursona for myself. Is there a stipulation that you have to make a fursona to be a furry, or is looking at the art enough?

Most furries do have a fursona, some even have multiple! But, it’s definitely not a requirement! The only thing that is required to be a furry is to enjoy anthropomorphic animals! And since you enjoy the art of those characters, that makes you a furry!

Nope, I found out about the fandom and that I was a furry in 2010 and I waited 9 years before I finally got around to making mine in 2020 lol. I always wanted to have one though.

Not at all. Given how expensive fursuits are, it would be a very small community otherwise.
I've spoken to furries that have basic ears and tail or just wear fluffy jumpers. Some I know of do a lot of art: badges and stickers seem to be a furry thing to.
Ultimately just be and do you.

Nope, you don't need a fursona at all to consider yourself a furry. There's plenty of furries that don't have a fursona or make any characters. Being a furry is a spectrum, from casual art enjoyers to people who center their entire lives around being a furry!

This is true, I am not here to pull your leg, tease you, or make fun.
I have come to realize that I used to be a furry. A long time ago when I was about 5. It was Rocky and Bullwinkle and I thought Rocky was hot, I don't know what that meant to me at the time, I was 5. But I wanted to play with Rocky, we would have adventures. Rocky would wear diapers and so would I.
I couldn't remember any of this, I am ABDL and wasn't really sure what a furry was, I was going to have someone explain it to me lol

You can certainly be apart of the fandom without your own fursona! Being a furry at it's core is about appreciating furry artwork, writing, characters and more the fandom has to offer!

Plus for one reason or another, I think it can be hard to settle on a fursona. There are plenty of reasons a person may not have one.

Always the answer to this I feel will be no. There is so many people that do not have a character, are stuck between many of them or still exploring why they want to be. A fursona is just one that you are relate to most and an idea so that people know how to treat/talk with you.

For example you would talk to a puppy different than a kitty. Both enjoy different things but certainly it is not a REQUIREMENT to be one to have one decided. This happens over time and even when one is decided can still change.

I used to be a puppy then a bunny and a reindeer before becoming a mouse and relating to that most and sticking to it
