Hello all! As some of you might know, the former Abena Abri-Form (cloth back), has gotten a makeover and has changed to Abena Slip here in Europe. (Atleast in Scandinavia.)
They have changed the name, the design of the package, and the design of the diaper. Even tho they claim that the diaper works as good as the former Abri-Form (wich I unfortunatly have not hade the chance to try), I´m pretty shure that it seems tho have become worse.

Have anyone here tried the newer Abena Slip, and can tell if you have noticed any differences to the former Abri-Form?

The reason to why I´m asking this, is because I get diapers free by a prescription from my incontinence nurse because I have issues with bedwetting. And the Abena Slip M3/M4 is one of the few diapers I can get. I have given them alot of chances, but I have noticed that most of the times the tapes looses and come loos from the front panel, and often the tape even looses from the backwing witch its attached to. Wich obviously leads to very frustrating leaks to the bedsheets in the middle of the night! I have noticed this in both the Abena Slip M3, and the Abena Slip M4!
So if anyone has also experienced this, please tell me! So that I know that It´s not just a bad batch, but unfortunatly a bad diaper!

Thanks!
/AJ

The Aben Abriform here in the US is for at least now unchanged the only difference I have been noticing has been a change in the tapes the tapes have been given a fabric-like back, and the rest of the diaper seems to be unchanged still the same plastic

I don't use cloth-backed diapers

If you can get Seni Supers, they're a lot like the Abenas in how they fit, but their tapes actually work.

Normally I use plastic-back Abena. I prefer the plastic-back. I would think that a cloth-back would leak while sleeping. Before Abena I always used
Confidry 24/7. Wish they still have them.

I normally use the plastic backed M4. I messed up on my last order and got the cloth backed (old style) instead. Works well but sagged. I just used the top of a pair of tights, panties, or a onesie and that solved it.

I wasn't talking to you :p

But usually neither do I. I'll pass on feeling cold, clammy, and like I'm stinking up and soaking everything I sit on.

It wouldn't surprise me, for those old enough to remember the original Abena X-PLUS around the early to mid 00's it was a fantastic product.

There have been numerous rounds of cost cutting billed as 'improvements' since then.

See if you get a different product OP.

It seems like both the Abena M4 and this new Abena Slip style are available to me in Canada, I will order some of these new ones to try but I really hope the M4 I am used to isn't being phased out.

I'm still crying over Confidry 24/7 being discontinued and I can't say goodbye to another trustworthy, comfortable diaper.

Does it start with an a or b

I've been wondering the same, just how much the Abena Slip has changed. I'd been considering trying the cloth-backed ones, but this rebrand has me wondering if it's still worth it. I prefer the plastic-backed, but...was curious about the cloth.

I'm also curious if Abena Abri-Flex has changed, as they've rebranded it to Abena Pants, so while I don't want to derail the thread (seriously, let's not dive too deep on this subject), as long as we're on the subject of rebrands and redesigns...

I am currently trying out the Abena Slip Level 1 right now. I briefly talked about my shift at work this morning with wearing one for the first time in the "What diaper are you wearing right now" thread. Unfortunately though I also don't have any experience with the Abena Abri Form diapers before the name change. The package I got was the old package design that said "Abri Form" on it. But if there were any changes/modifications made to the diaper along with the name change they may have just packed them in the old bags that they still had in stock. And while I have only just started trying these diapers this morning the first one worked well for me. I think I will upgrade to the Level 2 though after this pack. Don't know about using them for bed wetting though. For me there are nights that I drink near 2 glasses of water (~32 oz) an hour or 2 before bed because I am so thirsty and end up with only a light to moderate wet diaper int he morning. Than other times I'll drink the same amount and wake up to find that I soaked my diaper heavily if it didn't leak.

Abena Slip sucks, it is their cloth finish diaper with the stupid redesign where the wrap-arounds are tabs attached to the main body of the diaper rather than the two being the same; you get much less absorbent coverage than with the previous design or the plastic backed diaper. I'd avoid.

Eventually you’ll get the same absorption with thinner diapers because the chemicals and materials and such in the padding are super absorbing, but that is just my opinion

I still have a supply for Comfiidry 24/7. I keep them in my closet. But they are are running low. I have Abena too. My 2nd choice.

Thank you all for your replies!

I probably should have done this in the original post, but anyway here I include some close up pictures of the new Abena Slip M4. So that you guys can see for yourself :)

As I mentioned before, the wings and the tapes are the biggest problems, where the wings stretches and become loose while wearing. (As you can see on the pictures the wings are rahter thin and not in such a high quality material. They also have those small little holes in them). The tapes either comes loose from the front of the diaper, or comes clean of the backside wings just as often!

If you want more pictures just let me know! :)

There are 2 problems with the new European Abena slips (tried the L3 and M3 recently):
1. Size: I usually wear L but with this diaper, the tapes then meet in the middle / almost overlap. Tried M size then instead which clearly is too small. So their sizing is kind of weird. Never had problems with other classic 2 tape diaper sizes.
2. Tapes: As the diapers have no elastic sides, the diaper as so many other CF versions starts to sag after some time , forcing you to readjust the tapes. However their tapes already have problems to stick when adjusting one time. Two or more times readjusting is merely impossible. Other manufacturers clearly have better sticking tapes.

Abena is supposed to be a premium brand, but this product range clearly is not convincing. Won't order them again.
