    How much do you spend

Around £40 a month / £480 a year. My catheters are supplied by the NHS but my nappies aren't; they tried to supply me with some useless pads but I told them to stop cos I was still buying my own anyway, and not even using theirs.

    Diapers or incontinence pads

With a leotard, the pads would probably be better because unlike diapers and pullups, there's nothing around the sides that will show. Normally, those pads are used with mesh pants or close-fitting underwear, but the leotard itself would probably sufficient. Abena have a range of pads...

Baby powder or no baby powder.

I generally don't use powder or creams but I always clean up thoroughly with wet-wipes. Never had a rash. I will occasionally (not every day, but a couple of times a week) use powder after a shower, because I like how it feels, but I don;t use it every time, not even once daily.

    Usage

I wear 24/7 and I manage my incontinence with catheters as well as diapers. So I drain my bladder with the catheters once every 4 hours, but I still dribble inbetween, some days more than others. I use usually 3 a day, sometimes it's just one if I'm dry most of the day, sometimes it's 4. I'm...

What caused your IC? Were you born with it?

I'm one of those awkward cases where they can't be certain, but the best guess is that it was originally caused by a spinal injury I had when I was in my mid-20s, which has deteriorated as I've got older. The original injury was from falling down a flight of concrete steps in the rain.

    Frustrated!

I am fully incontinent with zero bladder control, so I have to wear 24/7 and have done so for 7 years. In all that time, no-one has ever noticed my nappies. Sound is a complete non-issue; the only time I even notice the noise myself is when I'm at home in complete silence and I'm wearing just a...

    Putting On a Tena flex

I really like the Tena Flex, especially when I need to be able to change quickly and discreetly (night out at the pub for example). The only reason I stopped using them was the high cost; I'm IC and wear 24/7 and they're just not economical enough.

What size do you use for diapers?

I'm 5'6" and about 160 pounds, with a 34" waist, Medium fits me perfectly.

    Disabled toilets

I am in the UK, and I use them whenever I can. I even have a RADAR key so I can use the ones that are part of that scheme. I've never seen one that big outside of a hospital though.

Incontinence & Wearing Diapers During PET Scans...

I have never had a PET scan but I've had an MRI and they said it didn't matter if I wore a diaper as long as I put on a dry one just before the scan, which I did. Oddly, they gave me an injection of some kind of chemical which shows up on the scan, and the doctor warned me that it would feel...

A cure to your incontinence has been found, do you take it?

Somehow I can't imagine how a cure could even happen without surgery or medication. Fairy godmother waving a magic wand? Yes, I'd take that. Visiting aliens with technology thousands of years ahead of ours? Yes, I'd take that too. Divine intervention? Absolutely, and I don't even believe in God...

replacing or reusing a partially wet diaper

If it's only slightly wet and it's been less than a couple of hours since I last changed, I'll keep the wet one on. More than a little wet, or more than a couple of hours, I'll be more comfortable if I change it.

    New Diaper Duds and Disasters

My biggest dud was Abena M4s. Tapes pulled off, leaked all over the place, weeped through the backing. What a waste of money that was.

Foley catheters and getting a good nights sleep

I've never used foleys to manage my incontinence, only had them following surgery. I've been using ISCs since 2012 and in that time had only 3 UTIs, all of them within the first 2 years. This includes frequently leaving a catheter inserted to drain into a diaper overnight. Still no UTIs from...

    A different catheter question

I have been using intermittent self catheters since 2012 and in that time I've had maybe three UTI's that needed antibiotics. before cathing it was 3 or 4 a year. All of those post-cathing UTIs were within the first 2 years. I don't restrict my carb intake in any way. Pasta, bread, rice...
