  • A cute idea for a commission I've been thinking about: Your littlesona and mine, holding hands! :)
(Don't worry - I'm not trying to ask or beg for this! Just wanted to share ^^)

Aww. Yeah, I'm totally game for commissions with my ADISC family. :) I've wondered about it many times, but I'm pretty bad at coming up with ideas for these things really, and couldn't figure out how to broach the subject either. DM if you'd rather discuss it that way or it can stay here.

Had a very nice lunch today with ADISC's foremost Arthurian, @BobbiSueEllen. Thanks, Bobbi Sue, for letting me in on your itinerary, and safe travels! This virtual hangout of ours is great, but reality is always better. It's so fun and meaningful to meet the people behind the screen-names and avatars. (And on that note, thanks for not commenting on my short ears and conspicuously missing tail!)

@PrettyLilPrincess It's a pity we're so scattered. I really enjoy meeting my fellow ADISC regulars. Since moving from Seattle I've done far too little of that. But l suppose that is the glory of these virtual meeting places. They're certainly better than nothing!

So, you've heard about the Northshore Megamax Airlocks. (phew, that's mouthful!) Have you ever considered trying them? I don't think you'd be disappointed! I myself really liked them! I tried the lites specifically, as their absorbency has been compared to that of a incontrol active air, or an attends premier, which is about the kind of absorbency I'm looking for in a diaper.

I used the last of my AirLock samples yesterday and my feelings about the sizing are mixed. I still think the rise on the large is a bit risey. But by my third diaper, I'd nailed the taping and had a really great fit--super comfy, and it was still snug hours later. I ordered two more sample packs, one large and one medium. The adventure continues! (It's too bad they don't come with lambs and hearts though. :))

Also, I think these have some of the best sticky tapes I've ever used. I love my PeekABUs, but the tapes on those are pretty lame next to these NorthShore ones. The NorthShore ones re-stick amazingly well.

I’m almost sold on them, they pretty much figured out the main problem with cloth backed diapers and they fit well like MegaMax (if your body matches their fit). My biggest problem is the diapers don’t seem to keep wetness from the skin like their supreme or normal megamax.

Ha ha, well, I'm sure I can relate to the insecurities. I've always been something of a perfectionist, especially when it comes to creative stuff. It's... a real disability. Circuits are my day job, but also very much a hobby. COVID had me searching for ways to occupy my time, so I bought a sewing machine and serger. Still learning!

Wife's brother called this afternoon to let us know that their father had suddenly passed away. He'd visited us only last month to attend Daughter's high school graduation and seemed to be doing ok. Quite a shock. My mom is now the only one of our parents still around. Happy Fourth to my fellow Yanks--belatedly to some. Being on the left coast, I'm still waiting for darkness. I've got a few fireworks ready to go, but I'm most excited to set off this Pikachu--clearly NOT a licensed Nintendo/Pokemon product! Part of me hopes the plastic shell survives intact, and part of me hopes it blows to pieces. :) Actual results soon...

Textbook firework safety protocol right there, obviously. I hope everybody took notes. We lit our Pikachu while it was light enough to see his body. Definitely some of the novelty would've been missed otherwise. (Ouch. That chair... My back hurts just looking at it!)

We're about 500 feet from the beach, but even in peak summer heat the water only reaches about 45F. Ickies or not, it's not really swimmable. (But the beach-combing is nice.) I'm curious about weighted blankets. Part of me thinks they sound great, and part of me gets anxious thinking about them. I have a fear of being restrained, which sometimes even normal bedding can provoke. Goofy, I know!

The cool part of weighted blankets are they come in different weights. Do a kids one first. (Starts at 5-15 pounds) the one I have now is 50 pounds, and although not restrained its like someone is cradling you not wanting to let go. I can still easily escape though.

50 pounds! Wow. Maybe approaching them as a littlespace thing is what would make them work for me. In other contexts I'd probably struggle with onesies and bodysuits, but little me loves a onesie, so... 🤷 I appreciate the suggestion of the kids' blanket. I'll have to do some looking! :)

As a kid, I loved finding caterpillars. They were like free pets! I'd make terrariums for them out of pickle jars, feed them, watch them make their cocoons, and when the moths finally emerged I'd set them free outside. That was then. Here's a picture of a fence post at a nearby park, spoiler-tagged for the faint of heart:

I'm seeing lots of butterflies right now, but a moth plague is definitely on the way. The caterpillars are mostly gone/cocooned now. That's neat about the bees! We've got neighbors who keep bees, and I've always thought it would be fun. They have the Italian variety, and you can walk right up to the hive boxes without getting stung. It's fun to watch them.

Ah ok, I misunderstood "CS major" to mean that you were in school now. I think I've finally caught up. :) (I can be slow sometimes.) I've contemplated a second bachelor's degree in EE or CE, but it would be hard to justify the expense. Realistically my experience is worth more at this point, but not having the credential still bugs me for some reason.

All I want to do in life is find a cushy job and make 100K/yr. like each of my parents, meet someone I love and have a family comfortably. I am not at the 100K yet, of course! But I am dedicated. I may not ever hit it, but it is something I would like to do because I work very hard like my parents do, and I have a degree in CS.
