Well since the groups have been dropped. I guess I will go the route of the past discussions and just make a blog page.

I have been collecting coins since my dad started me on my 10th birthday, and made it a tradition by starting my kids collection for them.

I have coins from 245 countries in my collection. Some are easy to get and others are harder.

I have Korea and South Korea, but have only seen two North Korean coins for sale.

One night when I could not sleep I looked on E-bay and found a started set of North Korean Coins so I ordered it.

Turns out the seller is in China. From what I have been able to find out they are in the Chinese Ministry of Finance. Needless to say I have been a tad bit worried about the sale.

The arrival time was 1-22-19 to 2-14-19. They have not arrived yet.

I just did a package track and they bounced around in China from one spot (do not remember the name) to Bajing then back to where they started. They cleared customs on the 22nd and are listed as in rout.

I am getting a very good feeling that they are literally on a slow boat from China.

Haha....I collected coins too, mostly as a kid. As an adult, I continued with proof sets which I still have. Somewhere along the line, life got complicated and I stopped collecting. I still have my coin collection with old Indian head pennies, buffalo nickles, commemorative 50 cent pieces, etc.

Its never too late to work on a collection. Especially if you can get one of your kids interested.

Besides do you know of any other hobbies that is literally throwing Good money after Bad??? Most of the coins that I have are Worthless because the country of origin has devalues them.

The funny thing is that many of the coins I collected I found in my change as a kid. You can't do that anymore.

Very rarely. In the last 6 months I have gotten a US Silver Dime, Mexican silver 25 Centavos, and a 1943 King George Vl Canadian Penny.

There out there but you have to do a lot of digging.

That is why I talk to several business people on a regular bases and they usually have 1 or two coins that I buy from them.

The biggest score in the last year was a 1806 King George III Farthing in a roll of Nickels.

The North Korean Coins finally arrived.

My grandpa got me started on coin collecting when I was young we would open up a roll of penny's pull out the wheat backs and take the roll of regular penny's back to the bank in exchange for another roll he's passed away now but I still look for them since its one of my favorite memories and I won't stop collecting

My dad Did that with me on my tenth birthday. And I have done the same thing with my kids. Its the "odd balls" that you find in the bank rolls that are the fun stories to tell about your collection.

My best so far is a 1806 King George III farthing in a roll of nickels.

I am working on inventorying and upgrading my coin collection.

I just indexed my first coin made of Vinerium. It's a 1995 5 pound coin from Gibraltar (book value of $16.00).

Got on the net and looked it up. Vinerium is called "German silver" its a copper/nickel/zinc/magnesium alloy.

OMG!!! The auction house I use has gone to e-bay for better results and started the bids at $0.01. I just bid on a bunch of coins I need. This is too easy to get into trouble with.

All of my coins that I won showed up today.

I must not go on that link.

I collected coins but mostly went for US stuff. Completed the Eisenhower Dollars at one point (not counting the commemorative proof one)

Cool

I won an auction of 8 lbs of coins. Lot of the "typical" stuff. However there is a chance for some upgrades in all of that, but There was also a lot of hard to find "common" stuff in this lot also.

Should be fun to see what I have when I finish inventorying/upgrading my collection.

Won another "junk drawer" full of Euro coins. I am getting a lot of the gaps in the euro cents filled and getting 1 & 2 euro coins from a lot of the minting countries. The problem is what to do with all of these Duplicates. The US banks will not exchange foreign coins. So I keep trying to catch my friends before they go to Europe, But I don not find out until they are there and posting Pictures on FB.

I finally won a silver lot. Paid a little more then I wanted to, but I now have a complete set of 1967 Canadian centennial Coins.

I got the estate sale auction today. Lots of surprises, including 2 civil war 2 cent coins that are worth more then what I paid for the lot.

I finally finish sorting the estate lot and found another coin from 1672 I think it is Norway or Sweden. More research to do. I finally inventoried the K's last night and adder North Korea, so that brings me up to 246 countries now.

I am so mad! To get the newer half dollars (from 2002 to present) you have to buy the rolls from the mint at 1.5 X face or buy them from someone who has done that and selling them for more then 75 cents plus shipping.

I spent $3.50 to get my 2018d coin. The casino that we stayed at for spring break where giving them out at the black jack table. I go two of them from my wife to put into the kids collections.
