Why did nearly all non-ABDL companies switch to cloth backed?

PCS, so if I go to store and buy Tena Slip, but Maxi (and not Plus or Super), they will be plastic ? 😮😮😮

Only the Maxi "active" variant as we have the plain old Maxi here in Australia and it is 1000% cloth backed and it sucks.
