Why are people annoyed by innocent people?

I don't mean by people who didn't do the crime, I mean by people who are naive or very sweet, cute, (not looks, I mean by child like behavior), and it seems like lot of people are annoyed by those kind of people so they feel the need to bash them.


I used to get bullied by people online when I started posting online when I was 17 because I was very naive back then I was like a child. Now I am less naive now I don't get bullied online much, it's rare now. I had to force myself to change and learn to get rid of lot of the assholes and I also learned to hide it.


I know another person online who is has the social skill and emotions of a four year old and he is 33 and he gets bashed by people online.


Anyone here annoyed by those kind of people? If so why?

I have no idea why but I have really noticed this in my life. I'm a fairly naive and innocent person in real life. I have most certainly noticed that people very easily get annoyed with me. Heck I'm 22 and I blush at sex jokes. I've been bullied my entire life because I'm so innocent for my age. But people think it doesn't bother me because I don't express emotion very well. It seems to me that people just can't accept someone that is an adult and still innocent. I don't know why people can't just live their lives and leave people alone.

I'm 18 and I grew up in a very hardcore-redneck home. Yet I worked hard to maintain my innocence, and I was bashed for it.
1. My stepdad wanted to buy me a gun for my birthday, but I wanted a computer instead. He called me names, but I got over it. My reasoning was that "guns hurt people" (and honestly guys, I was like 13) He got me the gun anyways.
2. My brother, even now he does this, but when I was younger he used to offer me alcohol. And I politely refuse every time.
3. My brother also tried to get me to watch pornography with him >.> creepyness aside, I refused and he called me a fag... which wasn't a far cry.

I am wondering if this was another reason why I got bullied. I was labeled rude and mean and I bet it pissed them off because I was innocent about it.

I have also noticed people have gotten pissed at me for not getting things or understanding. In high school, kids didn't like it when I ask too many questions in class so they say "Stop asking questions."

Sorry that isn't productive...but really, I don't think anyone can answer that. I would think a multiple factors, anonymity on the internet, a lack of consequences, a lack of face to face interactions, and the plain boring/annoyance of explaining everything for the umpteenth time.

Because people who are insecure in themselves won't appreciate seeing things that they are not reflected back at them from you. Race, knowledge, experience, naivete--the specifics don't matter.

Probably because most people view losing your innocence as part of the right of passage into adulthood, whether consciously or subconsciously. Hence an adult that still acts or thinks childishly or doesn't "get" something most adults would is thought of in a negative light, since they have yet to mature in those people's minds.

Most kids have a desire to grow up, thus they will seize on anything they know that is "grown up" or adult and treat it as gold. If you don't know it, they will either proceed to enlighten you to show off how mature they are, or tease you for being a "baby" or a child. Or both. Once you get to a certain point, you will almost certainly get teased. Same with the stereotypical virgin thing that people in movies and tv are getting constantly teased about. It's part of growing up in these kid's/teen's minds.

I was ridiculously innocent through high school and was teased rather often for it. That and being the shy, scarred girl that hid in the dark corner all the time. I have been pretty much cleansed of much of my innocence thanks to "kind" individuals that proceeded to "educate" me at this point, but I suppose I'm still very naive about certain things, or so I'm told. Kids and teens just pick out those who are different than them and tease. It's human nature. Adults do it too, just in a more "mature" manner, if that makes sense.

Plus it might be that those people view that behavior as embarrassing and are embarrassed for the person, and that emotion comes out negatively against the individual. Either way, I don't think you can avoid it, unfortunately. I think the way society is, you will lose most of your innocence at some point regardless, otherwise I don't think you could survive on your own in the world. Sad but true

One of my online friends told me most of them are selfish and stupid. The ones who are innocent and have social skills of a young child. That could be why some people get annoyed by innocent people. I have been called stupid before.

Because it's a fast-paced world, and you have to be a bit of an asshole to get things done, it seems. The pace of our world tends to jade any innocence out of us, and it seems strange or weak to be otherwise. Most people are bullies at heart, so if someone comes across soft-spoken without some quiet strength behind it, they just blow past them with an unkind word.

It's the same reason innocent men tend to not get women: assholes seem more capable of getting shit done. Whether it's true or not, that's the perception.

Jeffy I know where you are coming from on the whole redneck thing. My father's side of the family is omg redneck but they are good people besides that. Growing up my father was always trying to get me to go hunting with him or fishing. I never could understand the point of these activities. I'm fine with people doing them though I just don't like them. The one time I went squirrel hunting and I got one I had major mixed feelings about it. On one hand i was glad I achieved the goal but on the other I was really upset that I hurt the little thing. Mind you I was probably 13 or 14 at the time. It's taken pretty much 22 years to get him to stop trying to make me "normal" And I still can't watch porn or look at nude art really I get WAY too embarrassed.

I live in Utah, with a bunch of Mormon kids who have no idea what the "real world" is like. They've never been met with hardship or severe temptation, and think that the world is hunky-dory and full of rainbows, when in reality it's not.

Sorry for the religious spin, and I'm trying to be more tolerant, that's just my view.

I dunno... I wouldn't blame innocence for it. A tough person could also have no idea how to survive the real world. That's why there are criminals on the streets and so many prisons. Those people definitely aren't innocent and they aren't doing well in the world either.

Anyway, with everything considered, I think the answer is that human nature just generally sucks. I guess the only thing we can do is try to be more tolerant of anything "different" and hope the tolerance spreads.

Such as today in Costco I was walking to the produce section to grab a bag of blueberries and a brother and his sister about 4-6 just jump out right in front of me and are clearly oblivious to my presence and I have to avoid them. So I walk around and they walk in the same direction and I nearly run into them again.

I did get passed but when I am shopping I want to go, get out and get home. Anyone who slows me down by blocking the ise when they are goofing around or are too lazy to move their cart out of the way or are slowly passing by a item for a look, talking to someone beside them etc I WILL get pissed off and I will most likely let you know about it in some manner.

The worst I ever done was ram my cart into someone elses cart and it felt GREAT. (Note I am not a bastard or anything like that. I just want to get my shopping done)

That's how I feel everywhere. Driving, shopping, drive thrus, etc. I wanna get whatever it is I'm doing done and get home back to my computers lol.

Yes, those people annoy the fucking hell out of me but, I only bash about half of them.

I know I'm still young, but people still say I'm innocent for my age. Actually though, my friends (whose opinions I actually care about or listen too) just think it's cute. I guess I've been lucky, because it's the same way online or maybe I've just become less innocent. :dunno:
