A couple of years ago I was introduced to a little show called Top Gear. Now, I get depressed when I can't watch it, and am constantly angered that BBC America chooses not to air the new episodes concurrently with their air date in Britain, and that they haven't made the leap to HD. Being a photographer and a gearhead, I am constantly in awe of the production values and the equipment they get to experience, and I don't think I have laughed more than when the presenters are off on some insane challenge. I particularly enjoyed when they face off with their German counterparts in a grudge match on the season finale. Epic.

Oh and rather self indulgently, WOOOOHOOOO #500!!

Yeah, British tv is the best. Top Gear, QI, Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Most of what I watch is British tv as Irish tv isn't great. We get all the BBC channels on Sky (1-4, England, Wales etc. but mostly I watch BBC 1 & 2 NI as it doesn't involve going through other channels selection).

Allow me to blow your mind...

FinalGear.com :: There's Fifth Gear, There's Top Gear, And Then There Is Final Gear

Skip BBCa, skip youcrap, and download the eps. Definitely worth it, and there are a few out there in HD. My favorite episode, the Polar Special, is available in 1080p here:

Top Gear - Top Gear Polar Special 2007 BBC-HD 1080p H 264 AC3 2 0 mkv : TV Shows > Top Gear - Mininova

Disclaimer... Top Gear and BBC have both stated that they have no qualms about their content being downloaded from torrent networks. It's perfectly legal, and the torrents linked from Finalgear are safe and very good quality.

Fire, have you seen it? It isn't like Motorweek or anything... It's car-centric, but there are a lot of other features they do that aren't necessarily car related, or are about other things, but doing them in cars. There is a reason it's the #1 most watched show in the world.

The camping episode is hilarious. :D

Ah, Top Gear!

I really enjoy episodes where they're given a thousand quid and told to buy a car. As far as I know, there have been at least three episodes like that:

The racing episode,
the moving van episode,
and the Alfa-Romeo episode.

I seen a few episodes of it and its a good show, if you like cars.

Me on the other hand the only cars I like are called mini-copper and even then I am not really into their preformace, I just care about its look. It's one of a kind :p

Hamster and Oliver! Need I say more. That has got to be my favourite single thing to have ever happened on Top Gear. And I love that show. It is brilliant, what entertainment should be. And even better are all the complaints from people who still think it is or should be a serious car show. They are so funny.

And the Stig. I love the Stig, and everything people say about him.

"Serious" car show or not, they know their stuff. I point to the show where they drove other people home from bars one night and went over their cars with them.

With the Cooper S it depends on how you drive it.

A friend of mine let me drive hers on a local curvy road and they handle like a go cart. Even though it was yellow and the license was like "ACUTE1" *blech*

And the Stig. I love the Stig, and everything people say about him.
Some say that he's able to crush walnuts, with his testes, and some say he's mortally afraid of cockroaches, all we know is, he's called Cuddles!

Yeah, them Cooper S's handle nicely.. so do Miata's. Compared to the cars I'm used to seeing (old V8 powered ones/Muscle cars) the mini's suck xD

TG Australia? Oh Shit!
Don't get your hopes up... It's generally crap. I'd definitely watch it over the myriad reality-crapola TV shows here in the States, but it doesn't hold a candle to Top Gear, or even Fifth Gear.

Speaking of Fifth Gear, I want Vicki to carry my children. :D

They ruined the mini coopers, those bastards!!

I feel horrible anytime my favorite car Minicooper gets damaged. Also the new coopers get up to 120 MPH I think, that's fast enough for me considering I can only go up to 75 here in the states, we don't have a autobahn.

I discovered Top Gear a couple of years ago thanks to a friend of mine who showed them to me on youtube (they don't broadcast it in Italy). Although they usually quite mistreat the cars they use, it has a very entertaining style and it's also technically very well produced.

I loved the episodes where they bought extra-cheapo cars to test how much would they last, like in the "American Road Trip", the "Top Gear Africa", or the "Budget supercars" ones. Also, the episode in which they took some scientists and had them do burnouts was quite funny, not to mention the "Grannies spin donuts" one.

For the record, some weeks ago I found out the Hungarian version of Top Gear: just search for "Totalcar" on youtube! :D
