I'm being dragooned to go on a ten day cruise in Alaska as part of an extended family reunion. I don't relish the family reunion part, but I'm trying to be positive about this. It is a vacation, after all. I've never been on a cruise or to Alaska. My idea of a good vaction is a white-sand beach, a good book, a big margarita; continue for six-seven hours everyday for one week (or more). It's sixty-four degrees on average the time of year we're going, so sitting by the pool is probably out for extended periods of time. Assuming I get tired of the buffets (everybody makes such a big deal about the food), what does one do on a cruise. I'm not doing any of the shore excursions b/c they're too expensive, but I will go ashore at some point. So, like I asked, what does one do on a cruise ship for ten days, and what do you do on shore/

Honestly, besides the books and the food and the people, you should admire. Admire the endless amount of water that's all around. Admire the chance that you have to go on the cruise. Don't label me as idealistic! That's exactly what I do when I want to spend the time away from people. I appreciate the small things.

Oh shut it, Point Blanch. =P

Admire admire admire, blah blah blah!

harris, you're going to have the time of your life. Tons of drinks, a casino (no doubt), and so much other stuff. Cruises are by far the best way to spend a vacation (in my opinion.) I want to go on as many as I possibly can, and plan to drag ALL of my close friends to one when we all turn eighteen. For me, cause of my age, cruises to me mean free pizza, free ice cream, and free soda as much as I want. Youth groups, new friends (Which is VERY unusual for me, let me tell you.), it's so much fun. For you, it'll have different activities, but I bet it'll be just as great.

agree'd.. take in the view and the natural beauty of things.. and seriously have fun. Cruise ships have TONS of things going on all of the time, it's not just a floating hotel. Get information from your family on which cruise line they're planning on using and do some research. My friend went on an Alaskan cruise and had a blast, even doing things like the dogsled rides and one day they had a helicopter excursion, so look into things like that. It may not be as expensive as you think. Make the best of it.

You don't need to go on an excursion to have fun while on shore. Get a taxi to take you around the area, or to a secluded beach or local bar.

And eating copious amounts of food never gets old.

Also, what line are you cruising on?

A Cruise is an interesting creature. In the Tom form, it's very versatile. It can take on the form of other humans, but only in a psychological form. It will still have its usual Tom appearance. The Suri branch is a newly discovered form in the Cruise branch. Not much is know, other than it has a vast amount of head hair at a young age.

Cruises have become affiliated with the Holmes, when the Tom and a form of the Holmes, called the Katie, became involved sexually. What they created was the mentioned Suri, so the Suri is a Cruise-Holmes crossbreed.

There are two other creatures that were brought into the Cruise sector. Like the Katie, they were accepted into the Cruise community.

Oh wait...Did you mean "cruise" as in a boat?

Imaging walking downtown with all the shops, restaurants and bars wide open, first class, varied and free. Imaging as well all of those other people around you intent on having as much fun as is possible. If you've got that locked in then imagine an entire staff equivalent to the largest hotel in the world (adding a captain) focused on seeing to it that you are the most important person on that ship, and that's pretty much it. Oh, and then there is shore leave!
