I'm being dragooned to go on a ten day cruise in Alaska as part of an extended family reunion. I don't relish the family reunion part, but I'm trying to be positive about this. It is a vacation, after all. I've never been on a cruise or to Alaska. My idea of a good vaction is a white-sand beach, a good book, a big margarita; continue for six-seven hours everyday for one week (or more). It's sixty-four degrees on average the time of year we're going, so sitting by the pool is probably out for extended periods of time. Assuming I get tired of the buffets (everybody makes such a big deal about the food), what does one do on a cruise. I'm not doing any of the shore excursions b/c they're too expensive, but I will go ashore at some point. So, like I asked, what does one do on a cruise ship for ten days, and what do you do on shore/
