Travel March 4th: Now starting to wonder should I wear diapers during the daytime when in Rome

Hey everyone,
So I recently posted on here about going to Rome with a friend of mine and didn't know if I should tell her that I still wet my bed since i'll be sharing a room with her you can find my post here. Anyways I'm beginning to wonder if I should consider wearing diapers during the daytime as well. I have a very overactive bladder and sometimes I find my self going as much as every 30 mins or once an hour. I'm beginning to wonder A)Are there lots of public restrooms readily accessible through out Rome incase I need to go every 30 mins or hour, or am i going to have a hard time finding restrooms readily accessible in places such as the Vatican during a tour or any tour of such sort or through out the city?

I feel a little frustrated with my bladder and wish i wasn't in this predicament I don't wanna be running to the restroom every 30 mins and be like hey can we find a restroom again. I'm afraid let alone to tell her about my bedwetting issue let alone now tell her that I need to wear diapers during the daytime as well. Please help me what would you do if you where in my situation. To be honest I could probably make to the restroom in time every 30 mins if i had to go. So I'm just worried about the frequency and restroom accessibility in Rome thats all.

Lastly since we are flying standby I'm only allowed to bring a carry on If i end up wearing diapers during the daytime not sure how I'm going to pack them for enough for four days?

I'm travelling frequent both in EU and US, you can bring your normal luggage which you check in, and a cabin luggage, no problem.
In Europe they don't have x-ray scanners, only the ordinary metal detectors. If you don't want to risk being exposed wearing a diaper, then make sure you leave all metal in the boxes and then go through. If the alarm goes, they will do a body search (tried it) and yes they will notice your diaper, but will not mention anything. In the US where they use x-ray scanners, my advise is to go through with a dry diaper on, otherwise it will show up on the screen, that you have fluid in your crotch area, but again, they act professional.

If you are dealing with OAB and are a bedwetter, then for gods sake bring diapers.

Could you perhaps consider higher quality pullup style adult diapers? They will certainly be more comfy as you trek around that great and vast city, and also when you are desperate and can make it to the restroom, then you can easily drop them to go, and then just slip them back on! If you do get caught short at any point any decent product will hold at least one moderate wetting.
Rome attracts tourists from around the world, and caters for all ages. They need to have facilities near all the main attractions, and from what I can remember it was never a big problem to find somewhere.

You will have a wonderful time!

I'd recommend wearing a Tena Slip Maxi during the day too. They're thin and discreet enough to wear under clothing without your friend ever needing to know, plus you can usually fit a ton in luggage since they take up less room than other brands like Abena. Better to be safe (and dry) than sorry. Public restrooms can be pretty nasty too, especially if they're really busy locations.
 
Rome does have facilities, but you never know the condition you will find them in and, when you do find them--like all such facilities in Europe--you will need to pay to use them. If you are going that frequently, wear a diaper. Use a Tena Slip Maxi or a ConfiDry 24 or something high SAP that will last all day...that is what I did. I only had to change a few times each day though I was peeing at that point more than once an hour, sometimes more than twice an hour.

Enjoy your trip! And spend some time in Trastevere; it is incredible!!!

Yes, wear them. You'll enjoy Rome more because you will not worry any more about these problems.
I wet the bed too and have an OAB at times depending on my Stress level, and if i go on a road trip, i go 24/7 just so i don't have to worry during my holiday about wetting myself. I suggest you do the same. It's liberating not having to think about it and to be protected.

As for diapers in the plane, Well as said, be sure to be dry when passing security and you'll be fine. Remember, the security will deal with this professionally and after that you'll never see those people again.

As for your friend, just tell her. No reason to go on holiday and hide this because you won't be able to enjoy the trip. With good friends, your problems are accepted.
 
If you need them wear them take a good reliable and absorbent brand, you should check to see if you can buy locally when there ahead of time incase you need more while there also you could fly with less diapers (saves on airline fees due to weight and size of bag required.

Since being diagnosed OAB I would never travel with out enough quality diapers either bringing them with us or ordering a head of time via the Internet and having them shipped to the hotel a few days in advance. Most hotels wil hold medical packages for arriving guests I know Disney does
 
Thanks everyone so far for the advice I still haven't told her about my bedwetting and the whole diapers yet. I think I'm going to tell her tomorrow. Eeek I'm afraid she's going to tell her sister and they are going to laugh at me or think I'm gross.

As for the past few nights I've been waking up wet in the morning so I guess its diapers for sure at night which i kinda already knew, Now gotta find even more courage to tell her that I possibly need to wear during the daytime.
 
If she's a good and true friend she won't have a problem with it, and I'm sure she will support you. I don't see any reason for her to share something like that with her sister (or anyone else, for that matter) especially if you ask her not to. You will feel better about it if she knows, because you will be more able to relax and enjoy your holiday.

You said in another post that you wear Tena Slip maxis; and excellent choice in my opinion, I know from experience that they will effectively mask any smells, and I would be very surprised if you couldn't purchase them or an acceptable equivalent in Italy. I'm sure they have bedwetters and incontinent people in Italy as everywhere else!
