"The square" inside diaper

Hello,
I saw than some diapers are a square (blue, pink or white) inside the interior.
What is it used for ?

Technically it's called an Aquisition/Distribution Layer (or ADL for short). I've also seen it called a Surge Layer. The multi-material properties of the ADL are supposed to help with wicking liquid away from the skin quickly and into the absorbent core of the diaper. This is why the zone for it is placed right where the wearer can flood directly into it. It also helps to prevent press-out of liquid back from the core to the skin.

Try this video, from about 1 minute in he starts describing the 3 different layers of a diaper and goes into how they work. He gives one of the better descriptions of the ADL (surge) layer that I've found.
