Well, I will be highly surprised if this works. Well- not works, more like if people use it and it does not die out in a week. But-

When I was FullMetal, back in the day, I created a thread similar to the one I will be creating now. It was aimed to help people out with homework. So, if you were having math problems, you would post what you needed help with and a member would answer you. It did work, we had some people who really needed help with some subjects and we did help them. I want to expand though and I really hope this works.

I want to make it for all subjects, so if you need help with a subject such as Writing you would do this:

Writing Help (bold it) and then post your paper if you want revisions or something.

If i was math:

Math x-y+7=4 if x is 2 (or something like that...not sure if that even equals out...)

Anyway, I really hope this works. How cool would it be to always have someone there to help you with like your physics homework or something?

Just remember to bold the subject so people can quickly know what they are helping you with and if they can and such.

Happy learning!

[Mods, I put this here for a reason, can you leave it here?]

y has to =-5 if you want that answer.

Ok here

6x2 + x - 1 = 3x2 - 8x - 2

Also just to be a dick someone solve

2x+x+2345x*8089x+x(x*X*X*X*X*X)+2137456823468237x/8766478857x*34746645656636378x

X=342342

Okey you have the numbers 9 9 9 9 9 9
No more then using 6 9's K and you can use * / + -
you have to make it equile a 100 Find out how.

Easy!

9*9 = 81
81+9+9=99
99+9/9=100

I haven't got anything I need help with, except occasionally German, but I am willing to offer help, if I can. I think this is a great idea and I hope it takes off!

#### Mr Alex

I will help with ANYTHING that isn't math. Because math is my most favorite subject. :thumbsdown:

Well i don't know this will work . There's a thing called Turn-it-in.com some teachers request you turn it in here to this website , what it does is check every assignment that has been turned in and the Internet to see if its plagiarised

That is actually a pretty neat idea. I used to be good at math and a few years ago I could have solved those equations real easily. Though if anyone has a history paper that they may need fact checked, I'd be glad to help, I know a lot of history & government.

On the face of it, I think it's a cool idea. It may work if you have an assignment due in a week or so. But, if the assignment is due like next day, unless you and others are online to help, it wouldn't work too well.

I can help with math, that doesn't mean making it for them.

That means that if they post it'd be best if they tell what they don't understand of it and I'll tell them what to do and why that is done. (yes the answer might be given too, for one or two of them)

Well, there are constantly people online who are much older and have done the things that people might need help with- so, I think it can work. This place is always riddled with people coming and going, I am sure one of those people could help.

i'm really good with math up to calculus (i'm not there yet) i'm actually planning to be a math teacher, so i would love it if people came to me needing math help. but like Martin, i only aim to help you understand the material, not do it for you.

This would have been so handy if this was around when I had to go through completing the square. Ay, I despise completing the square.

i love completing the square. if it ever comes up again, i could defenitly help you with that. it's come up a few times in my high school carrere, so don't think it's gone just yet.

Thank you. You don't know how much that makes me feel very glad. Math is all garbledee gook to me. I am gifted in Biology and especially botany if anyone is needing an aspiring Bill Nye nut like me. I am fair at english too.

Now THAT is something I'll keep in mind. I'm good at it but not all aspects of it.

Someone explain reducing radicals to me. my teacher got me more confused.

oh no, it's early and i'm forgeting terms. i'm pritty sure this means square roots, and i know thoes well, but please tell me if i'm right. give me a sample problem or something and i'll know exactly where you are.

si Kinda it involves Sq Roots but it is about half of the things.

my equasion editer isn't working on word, so bear with me. imagin { is a square root sign. To reduce a Square root, you need to take out part of it. To do that, you need to factor the number. So lets say you had {60. There is no square root of 60, but you can break up the number into {10 x 6. Then you can break that into {2 x 5 x 2 x 3. There a two 2’s in the square root, so you can take out a 2, which makes 2{5 x 3, which makes 2{15.

more examples

{44
{11 x 4
{11 x 2 x 2
2{11

{12
{3 x 4
{3 x 2 x 2
2{3

{9
{3 x 3 x 3
3{3

{288
{2 x 144
{2 x 12 x 12
12{2

i'm sorry i couldn't make the square root sign. i hope this helps.

Completing the Square

x^2+4x-7=0

Now, this doesn't factorise, so it is a good one to use completing the square on.

First we take the first two terms, here x^2+4x. One way of getting something in the form x^2+bx is (x+b/2)^2. For example:

Code:
`````` (x+4/2)^2
=(x+2)^2
=(x^2+2x+2x+4)
=x^2+4x+4``````
But that has a 4 at the end. We want a -7. So we take (x+2)^2 and remove the 4 from it to get x^2+4x then we add the -7 to it to get x^2+4x-7.
With this we can show that;
Code:
``````x^2+4x-7=(x+2)^2-4+(-7)
=(x+2)^2-13``````
We can call this the equation in the form (x+a)^2+b. This is equal to the equation we had above so we now solve this new form of the equation equal to 0:

Code:
``````(x+2)^2-13=0
(x+2)^2   =13
(x+2)     =+-sqrt(13) (remember the +-)
x        =-2+-sqrt(13)``````
This is all well and good, but what if for the x^2 term you have something like 2x^2. Well, let's see.
2x^2+4x-7=0
First we have to take that two out of the quadratic, so that we have just an x^2 bit. We do this by dividing everything by 2;
2(x^2+2x-7/2)=0
Now convert the x^2+2x-7/2 bit into the form (x+a)^2+b like we did with the previous one.
Code:
``````x^2+2x-7/2
(x+2/2)^2
=(x+1)^2
=x^2+x+x+1
=x^2+2x+1

But we don't want +1 at the end. We want -7/2

(x+1)^2-1+(-7/2)
=(x+1)^2-9/2``````
So now we have;
2((x+1)^2-9/2)=0

Put the two back in, move the 9 over then divide both sides by the two. After that you can complete the square as before;

Code:
``````2(x+1)^2-9=0
2(x+1)^2  =9
(x+1)^2  =9/2
(x+1)    =+-3/sqrt(2) (again, remember the +-)
x       =-1+-3/sqrt(2)``````
If there is anything you want me to go other again, I am more than willing to.
