I am currently taking a long road to becoming a neuroscientist, and I would like to take a look at why we like diapers from a neurological stand point. Each brain has its own unique heat signature, some parts of it are more active than others. So it is my belief that those of the AB/DL community, have at least one part of the brain that is active. I honestly think it has nothing to do with childhood, but more the brain has linked a inanimate object (diapers). That when used or worn, or even some cases thought of, our brain releases endorphins, for that happy comforting feeling. I hope to study this more thoroughly once I have my PhD.

Sounds interesting :3

Are you looking for subjects to take an fMRI? :p

Awesome.... If you get into a research roll you can sign me up. I'd love to do a brain scan/FMRI,etc ( at least on first thought)

Google "transitional object" if you haven't already. There are a lot of interesting theories floating around. I think the real breakthrough here, if it ever happens, will come from an enormous amount of data. The trouble with that, commonly cited both by observers as well as those conducting the research, is that there just aren't enough people to study. Fetishists, and particularly those with embarrassing fetishes such as diapers, tend not to turn out in droves for evaluation or treatment.

But! I can't blame you for being interested in this. I'd love to be able to point to a cause, if only to satisfy my own curiosity.

Although there are specific structures in the brain that serve specific purposes, (hippocampus for memory for example) I think when you get into higher thought processes such as desires, I don't think you're going to find activity consistently in one small, unique place.

I agree, however there may be a similar brain wave pattern or heat fluctuation that could be the same or very similar

Well, I am definitely curious myself. I'd have no issues whatsoever with a brain scan. I wonder if performing sleep studies as well will provide useful information, differences in brain activity between sleeping with diapers, and without.

I guess this is what they did regarding homosexuality? As Conttontail has said, you might have trouble getting test subjects. I was reading an article today regarding Alzheimer's disease. They want to test people who haven't experienced the symptoms and find those who have markers for future Alzheimer's. They believe that treated in the early stages, it's progress can be stopped. Their problem so far has been getting test subjects because people don't want to know if they will eventually succumb to Alzheimer's. Worse yet, half the test subjects would receive placebos.

dang....that sucks, I do however believe that this situation is slightly different, all my test subjects would have to do is go through an FMRI and maybe answer a few questions. furthermore, they would already know that they have an/DL tendencies.

You basically have to offer people money and/or free medical treatment for these tests. That's what a lot of the big pharmaceutical companies do when they're setting up clinical trials for stuff like drugs that reduce cholesterol or the various treatments for depression.

As private as we are, I'm sure that for a couple hundred dollars, many fetishists would be happy to participate in an anonymous study for science.

Interesting topic and your theory makes sense too. I would really like to see updates about your research in the future.

Dabbling in neuroscience a bit (I'm a pre-med, if you say health science I'm there), I kinda think your hypothesis is spot on. But, take a look at the neurology of addiction/pornography as well. It's not necessarily the same, but may provide some interesting insights. The latter may also explain why a DL who only starts wetting may start getting into messing (ie, the experience of wetting isnt enough) or why an AB who starts only with a few "little" things may develop a very strong want for more "little" related things.

Excuse my potential misuse of the titles, lines are kinda blurry sometimes.

Cheers! And sign me up for your study while you're at it!
