Good luck out there, be careful and stay safe. Always think things through; terrorists use IED's in ways you'd never believe.
Are you in the Army or USMC? You might consider purchasing some Dragon Skin before you ship out, it'll stop 7.62's clear and clean.

Fear is your body's way of keeping you alive. I'm not sure if you'll face combat or more of a "support" role, but it seems to me that fear is a healthy thing to have in either.

Remember your training, keep your head down, and drink lots of water. Be afraid without being paralyzed, cautious without being paranoid, and methodical without being slow. Hopefully you'll be pulled out long before the 18 month mark.
