I have a memory of visiting my female cousin, who is a couple of years older than I. I would have been in primary school while she must have just started high school. She had a sand pit I wanted to play in but doing so in my Sunday best would have been a problem. The solution was that I was given a pair of my cousin's stretchy, tight-fitting navy blue shorts I would later learn were the standard girls' high school sportswear, but wouldn't have known that at the time. I remember how good they felt to wear and could not understand my mum's negative reaction when I asked if I could have a pair. Later I became fascinated by the big navy blue knickers girls would wear under their sports skirts over their normal knickers but didn't get to try these until much later in life. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I like girls' school sportswear. Some of my favourite items are a pleated skirt, a T-shirt with elasticated sleeves, a white tennis dress; and my favourite footwear is plimsolls without socks.

Darn parents and elders getting in the way of advancing one's appreciation of experiencing clothing of the other side of the aisle !

I had an interesting and embarrassing experience involving sports kit. During my first year at Secondary Modern (Later High) School, I wore the following sports kit-

*White T-shirt
*Black shorts
*White ankle socks
*Black plimsolls

You may ask "What's wrong with that? The thing is, the Boy's outfit was a Football (Soccer) kit! I was wearing a Girl's sports kit!

This was down to my parents. They'd either had got things muddled up, or it was down to expense. (At that time, my family weren't well off financially speaking).

I can't remember what the other boys said, but a male P.E. teacher queried my outfit. I did eventually get the correct kit, but it proved to be no happy event. The football strip was made of an itchy, uncomfortable man-made material. So maybe I would have been better off in the girl's kit!🙂

Ya dat boys kit probably made out of burlap scap (itcy scratcy) only the saving grace was the primitive whities/tighties underwear.
And then in comparison the smooth like caressing camisoles lined gym slips - simplistic sleek feminine wear

I always loved seeing the girls in school in their running shorts. Those short striped ones back in the 80s and are worn nowadays as well. I also loved when they wore those Adidas shorts black and 3 white striped shorts. I loooove those type shorts! Some girls wear them nowadays. Best of all.....!!? Is guys wear them too! So I dont feel too "stand outish " wearing them. So I make sure Im rocking those shorts in the summer when at the park or amusement park. They also arent the usual guys shorts that are down to the ankles. These are true shorts covering only half my thighs. My wife even likes them and doesnt think they are too short.
