I recently ordered 5 packs of ABUs small Preschool cloth. Being deeply discounted I thought what the heck. I wanted to try their Kiddos and Little lions, but they were out of stock. I noticed the dates on the packs were dated back to 2017, and "expired" in 2020. Is that a common thing, with them being nearly 6 years old.

In the annuls of disposable diapers, including medical brands purchased off the shelf, the answer is yes. I’ve seen it before. In terms of ABU, I can’t answer that because I don’t work there. However, small is not a commonly sought after size. My guess is medium, large, and even extra large are more commonly purchased. So, they sat on a shelf for a long time. Are they any good now? Probably yes. You’ll have to decide. But, that’s why they were discounted.

Oh, I wanted to try those, they were next on my list to try but I didn't get a chance to before they were vaulted. It seems they are all sold out now.
I didn't even know diapers "expired" until now. I wonder why they would?

The tapes could possibly loose some of their adhesiveness, sap could discolor a bit and potentially loose some of their absorbency. These diapers look fine to me, I haven't tried one yet, it just caught me off gaurd that they were nearly 6 years old.

I don’t collect diapers and keep them for years, but I’ve heard of some people who do. My guess is the materials slowly start to deteriorate. Adhesives, elastics, SAP, etc. Expiration dates are often put on products far ahead of their useful life.
