put in diapers as older kid cause of illness

i just had a thought did anyone on here got put in diapers at older age while sick when otherwise out out of diapers ?

No but I think I was close one time. Somewhere around 8-10 I’m guessing, I got some kind of bug that was making me have little uncontrollable spurts of diarrhea. Went through 6 pairs of underwear that day and I think I remember overhearing my mom talk about pull-ups.

Between about age 6-11 I no longer wore diapers every night, but did still have pullups/Goodnites available for special situations (especially sleeping away from home). Being sick sometimes counted as one of those special situations as I was more likely to wet with a cold or flu, so when younger my mom would lay out a pullup for me to change into at bedtime or for a nap, and when older I sometimes just chose one too.

This was because I was a periodic bedwetter anyway though, so it would be different in the case of someone who never had a need day or night but got diapered just because of being sick. I could see it being practical for young kids the first year or two after being potty trained, but haven't heard of any instances of this happening with bigger kids.

Yup and to be honest I have had kidney issues most my life along with really horrible bladder infections as a child it was traumatizing at first but then as things were clearing up I was playing Atari and relised I was regaining control of things as I was desperate for a pee ...but I was all wrapped up in a blanket and warm and didn't want to get up so I kept holding...then my mother made me take some meds and wanted me to drink a whole bottle of water I guzzled it to get back to my game I still wasn't feeling well and didn't get up but the need was building at one point I really intended to get up and go but as I stood up a little came out and I fought like hell to stop it ...my hand instinctively went to my private area and for some reason touching the diaper... something just clicked I was like oh yeah if I have a accident it's ok.... So I sat back down and continued playing a short while later I thought I'll just go a little to relieve some of the need ...so I can be comfortable. I did succeed twice but the third time the dam broke and I couldn't stop it so I just sat there playing while my bladder entirely drained.. something changed that day as I sat there soaking that diaper playing a game warm and comfortable and I think that was the first time I actually relized it kinda felt good...the next several days I intentionally wet several times...and had one ummm situation with diarrhea iv antibiotics always mess me up and I generally was able to make it to a restroom but...I was in the car with my mother in our way home after another visit to the Dr and we barely got on the freeway when it hit me and to be honest I probably could have made it home instead I played it up really bad wondering what that would feel like and quite simply not wanting to be in discomfort if I didn't have to be I was wearing a diaper for hells sake. My mother to her credit and kept calm and said would get to a gas station ASAP and told me it will be ok....I kept acting frantic and even told her I wasn't going to make it just to see her reaction and partially out of truth. her response was a calm well we'll be home in a 25 or 30 or a gas station in 10 minutes it's not the end of the world...it's ok ..that was a green light in my mind so I tried to relax and just let it happen but My body just wouldn't agree...I tried to push a little nothing but it still felt like it was going to come out on its own.....it was extremely uncomfortable....as I realized we were getting of the freeway I knew the gas station was getting close so it was now or never and to be honest I'm not sure what happened I was sitting there trying to go and I'd all but given up when bam it just happened all at once it shocked me did it just happen did I do it ? Was this an Accident ? and I just started freaking myself out to the point I started to cry .... my mother looked at me in the rear view and drive right past the gas station...in that moment I knew she knew and I offered a feeble I'm sorry ...she actually started laughing and said why are you upset everything is fine ! except that silly look on your face ...I knew she was simply trying to cheer me up and it worked with in a few minutes it didn't matter ...except every bump we hit I could feel all these odd feelings I decided to add to it and wet will everything it was sensory overload. After that when I was suffering from medical trouble I always enjoyed the diapers ... and would wet on purpose.

I stopped wetting the bed at 14 but at 17 I got really sick and started wetting a little bit at night again. Goodnites still fit me so my mom had me wear them until I got better and a week after and I’m thankful I did because out of the 10 days or so I was sick I had 5 wet nights AKA wet Goodnites

Not me. I was never forced or even asked to wear a diaper when sick or on long trips, it just was never done. The only time I wore diapers were the few years (9 to 12) that I wet the bed and then only at night.

Once or twice in the nine to eleven year age range I had some bad colds and bronchitis and they had me on some medications that cause frequent urination in order to make sure that I got whatever I had completely out of my system. Obviously whenever I was that sick I was always home from school. I was around the size of an average four-year-old at that point so the largest size Pampers still fit.

For some reason when I was sick I never seemed to feel embarrassed about anything (even though my ability to feel embarrassed kicked in (as I recall) somewhere around age nine) so it never really bothered me. As I recall at the time I neither liked nor hated it to any noticeable degree. I would sit on the couch watching TV and eating chicken noodle soup in my pajamas with feet with a Pamper underneath. I liked the idea of not having to get up for anything (especially if I was dizzy and/or nauseous), but otherwise I didn’t think much of it one way or the other.

I still wore nappies to bed all of my childhood but generally only wore nappies during the day if travelling but if I was sick and off school my night nappy would be changed in the morning for a fresh one. Also if I ever had an upset stomach that would be cause for a nappy during the day.

I had a friend whose mom would put them in pull ups any time they were sick, since she said she was tired of random bed wetting accidents with sick kids.

Until age10-11 I was put in diaper when ill. My mother rather prefered that I have wet diaper in morning then wet bed.
But it eas more prevention. Used diaper maybe in 30% of situations.

When I was 5 and started to wear underwear full time. I wore diapers instead of pull ups when I was sick with a case of the stomach bug and diarrhea. The diapers held more and was easier for my mom to clean up since pull-ups didn’t have the tear away sides at the time

I had a traffic accident at 12. Badly broken leg, surgery, ...
I was sharing my room with another boy, approx 10-11 that had an integral cast! He had to wear diapers that were changed a few times a day.

Being locked in my bed, I asked several times if I could also be diapered but the nurses answered that a boy with valid arms can use pee bottles!

I was jealous of my roommate, of course not for his disease but for his "right to wear"...

well i was a bedwetter till late teens at about 16 so i wore diapers normally to bed till that age , i know when i was 15 i got sick and didn't really have strength so my mom help to put me in diapers for bed , like she help to diaper me even though i can do it myself .

Yes and I think its party why I have a love for diapers today, I'm not 100% sure at what age it happened, I would say I was between 6 and 8 yrs old, and I had catch a bad case of diarrhea along with my brother that was 2 yrs younger, my dad decided it was a good time to use some of the leftover diapers (I'm pretty sure they were Pampers Ultra thick for toddlers) we had for awhile to save us some embarrassing situations, those diapers were really thick in those times (I would pretty guess it was in 1986 and I would be 6 at that time) I still remember what I wore that day, still in my memory and stuck forever, I had a few pairs of corduroy pants with complete elastics around the waist, and this is what I wore during 4 days along with the diapers, my most vivid memory is them being blue and me sitting on the toilet with the diaper still down in the crotch of the pants, slightly wet from pee, and ready to be fastened back on after I finished pooping. This is the only occasion I had to wear diapers also during the night and being thankful because I was a bedwetter till I turned 15 and my parents were against the use of diapers on me and were harsh about this, but its a part of my past that I'm finally healed off and we're now in very good standing, but during this event that lasted 4-5 days, I had diapers to rely on and my parents would only take them off when we needed to poop (if it wasn't already in the diaper)

Today's context is, I will never ever poop in a diaper again, too messy to cleanup, I did it once not so long ago, nope, even with the shower I took after cleaning myself, I still felt dirty. But I love soaking my diapers when I wear them.

Now that I think of this, I need to find some corduroys with elastic waist and fake button and zipper but for adults with 40" waist, I don't think I will find them easily but that would complete my memories for good.

Wow, I wore those same pants and diapers! I was born in 1981, and mom kept me in baby diapers at night until I was probably 9 and outgrew them. I mostly remember Luvs and Huggies. I think Pampers were too expensive so she didn't buy them as much. But I do remember wearing them.

And the corduroy pants! Mine were brown and had the same elastic waist. They didn't do much to hide a diaper underneath. I don't have as many memories of wearing diapers as I would like because I think it was kind of commonplace for me back then. So I only have a few "snapshots" in my mind of times where I know I was diapered.

Later when I turned 11 I was still wetting the bed regularly, and mom decided to put me back in diapers at night prior to a family road trip. That was a more impactful event for me and much more embarrassing. I wore drugstore brand adult diapers from 1993, which were very crinkly and hard to hide. I ended up in those for another year before my bedwetting tapered off, but not before experiencing some embarrassing situations in front of my siblings.

Once I became dry, I immediately regretted losing my diapers. I used to wish and pray that I could be back in them. Guess my wish came true because my bedwetting came back in my 30s. My only regret is that they don't make the old Attends anymore, as I would love to still wear those.

For me it was 7. And then when I was sick stressed or overtired (under the covers so no one could see) for two years after that.
