Wow kinda shocked no one is talking about it here yet. But what do people think of it?. Its a weird look but i kinda like it

Looks like a Router. Honestly perfectly pairs with Series X PC like appearance. Now you can have a full PC setup with both of them.

Joking aside I don't personally see it doing that well as constant leaks of the prices and early pre-orders have shown the buy in to be $699.99 USD/£599.99 and with Microsoft still being shy with the pricing of their own console I can't help but feel like we are about to see a repeat of the PS3/360 era where the PS suffered due to the Xbox being a cheaper alternative which is very much a big thing now a days considering most big games that players tend to play tend to fall into the Multiplatform side of things. The one console/gamemaker that honestly seems to be thriving off 1st Party at this point is Nintendo themselves and unlike Sony and Microsoft they're not willing to even take a loss on console sales either which speaks very much to the power their 1st party titles have.

I'd be more excited for remasters of games like Demon Souls, which hopefully follows the trend of Spongebob Rehydrated and adds in originally cut content, and the potential of the now more popular timed exclusivity that seems to slowly be catching on with Sony. There are some interesting games for sure outside of Demon Souls but I'd argue nearly none of them are really worth the $700 buy-in as is. PS5 is probably going to be undercut by Xbox and the cross-platform approach will probably further solidify Xbox into this generation.

That said the biggest issue for Sony at the very least is now that the leaked price is making the rounds Microsoft will more than likely price significantly lower as they can eat a bigger loss than Sony as Sony itself has been a struggling company that has been going further down financially with each year that passes. If memory serves correctly the Playstation section of Sony is the only consistent money maker they have left.

The funny thing is every time a console comes out people say it look like something. Ps3-grill, ps4 pro- sandwich, xbox one - VCR, seires X - fridge.
All that matters to me are the games and PlayStation imo alway has the better 1st party games.
I also doubt the rumours about the price will be correct as sony has learn there mistakes after the ps3 price

Fair enough, I personally don't fall in a console camp as I have had a different one for each generation since I can remember. Dreamcast, PS2, 360, WiiU, Gaming PC/Switch in order ignoring secondary consoles ive gotten further down the line in their respective generations. Still as far as the price goes Sony really can't afford much of a loss on the console as I mentioned. They are getting drained by nearly every failing business decision with the most profitable being Playstation and the Marvel-Spiderman movies.

The £599.99 actually predates the reveal by a week I believe meaning the pre-order page was probably already set up to get ready for the PS show with Play-Asia listing the US price for the PS5 at $699.99 right after the show. I'd be of the opinion that this pretty much sets in stone what we should expect for the buy-in price at this point. Xbox will probably set their pricing way lower than that and just run off multiplats as those are both console's biggest sellers with Nintendo being the modern exception to that rule.

Play asia are known to mark things up. Also sony isnt doing as bad as you might think, also its a well know fact that consoles are sold at a loss but make that money up with software. The 360 never saw a profit in its life time.
After what ive been looking at the predicted price is around $499. Targets website had a preorder listing for $400 before it got removed.
Also since the ps4 is still outselling the xbox 2 to 1 and the ps4 being able to play ps4 games, im sure most people will by the ps5 to keep the library of games. I dont think xbox will fail to keep up with sony this time around but imo sony will keep some sort of sales lead

Build yourselves a decent PC, does a lot more than play games. :D

Already have a pc, doesnt make a console pointless

Save your money get a good PC and after 1 or 2 years when the "Pro" version with better hardware for less money is out
get the PS5 for the 5 only good PS5 Titles that are out by that time.

Isnt it typical of pc gamer to aways but in on a thread about consoles. Yes yes a pc is better, but really no one cares

I care, i had every Playstation from the first one on, so don't call me a PC gamer that does not care and only posts here to piss off others.
You wanted the open opinions of others here is one, don't be pissed if that's not the thing you wanted to hear.
If you only want Posts here of Hardcore Playstation fans then write it in your first Post.

I always loved the Playstation and its exclusive titles like Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy 7-10
But the time this good Games are still Playstation only is gone. Good games come either for
PC or other consoles too, or the series lost there glory long time ago like MGS and FF.

Really good exclusive titles come only 1 a year. That is not enough for a 700€ Console.
Everything else i can play on PC too with better graphic and without hardware based lags.

Second but maybe much more important, on a PC i can do so much more stuff, link videos,
make communitys with my friends share stuff and so on and so on.
When i need to wait for another guy i can watch Youtube Vids without leaving the game,
while PS4 does not allow to have 2 Programs at the same time.
Oh and the worst of all PS4 can't play Audio Cd's
What Downgrades will PS5 have?

On PS4 i can only go into a Chat party....Wow...

Oh and also, i bought my PS4 when it was new, so a half year or so later there was the PS4 pro
with better hardware and more memory for less money and i felt betrayed.
Did not buy it, im not an idiot and buy the same shit twice.

PS:
And not to forget those big Titles that are just awesome, like Total War Warhammer 2 that are
just too heavy to ever be released on Console.

I really like the design of the console, but the controller is kinda icky. They tried to make the ergonomics similar to the xbox controller, but they made it look like a concept controller from the 2000s with an apron. I have to say the console's design is way better than the boring design of the xbox series x.

Also, obligatory pic I just had to share... 🤣

I'm a pc gamer myself, but I do have a ps4 too. Keep in mind that a building a pc with the same performance of the ps5 and xbox series x would cost at least double of what the next gen consoles are projected to cost. Just wanted to put that out there cuz that is a huge advantage for consoles

I still own a PS2 3 and 4 and still to this day play games on all of them, because i love my retrogames and i don't buy them anew
on every new console, but its just a fact that a PC on the long run is just better in every point.
You even could download a emulator on PC and play PS4 or 5 Games if you like....
I Played my Dark Souls series on Playstation until i bought a X-Box controller, and since then
i never came back to them on Playstation, because on PC with a Controller its just that much superior.

The only reason so far for me to get a PS5 in the future is the Demons Souls remake, but that alone wont
sell the console to me, i wait until at least 5 games are out that i can only play on Ps5 and that are truly worth it.
I don't say i will not get a PS5 someday, im just a PS gamer as well, but i will not do the same mistake and get one
when its new, and 6 month later a Pro version with better hardware and more memory comes out.

I just built myself a gaming PC, but I still think the PS5 looks promising. I'm curious to see if game developers will take advantage of the console's unique SSD. If they do, the PS5 might be able to play games that are impossible to run on current gaming PCs.

I'm probably not going to buy one, but I am excited to see how it will perform in the real world.

It was a tounge in cheek remark, hence the smiley. But I custom build my own pc's and i will put it up against any console out at the present or about to come out. When consoles can run 4k on a 1ms monitor without any graphic problems I might look at a console.

Sorry if it felt like I was attacking you I just wanted to mention how these next gen consoles are very promising on their performance relative to their price that's all 😁. Also I wanna add that it is rumored that the ps5 and xbox series x will have very comparable performance to a 2070 super and that graphics card alone is more than $500 usd. 4k gaming will be possible with the new consoles on a lot of games, which is very exciting to hear about

then i fear you have to wait till 2040 but at that point you PC will be able to do 10k Graphics without problems i assume

didn't take it as an attack, but whilst consoles may be able to run a 4k monitor what sort of frame rate are you going to get. And yes if you want a custom high end pc then you have to pay to get it. My processor alone was over £700 and two graphic cards at over £500 each, Mb another £500+ then 128gb ram, 2tb ssd, 8 tb internal hard drive, power supply, decent cooling and a specialist case to take the bigger Mb it adds up to a pretty piece of cash. But i can have 3 high end games running at the same time without any problems as well as doing all my normal on line activies. all I need now is another 4k display.

I have brought up discussions about it before we knew what it looked like

As for the design, I am not a Fan of it

I have seen some much better Renders that would have made for better designs

But ultimately the design is my Last Concern

I have liked Sony consoles since the PS1, and I have had all Generations of PlayStation consoles; I'm not huge on Xbox simply because I prefer having more games to play and that's where PlayStation excels

I dont even care if Xbox will be "More Powerful" when I would have to miss out on many games I love if I went XsX

I usually wait to go from "Current to Next Gen" because when the Next-Gen is too expensive or doesn't allow you to use your current library o have no hurry

If its gonna be $600-700+ I will wait; towards $500 or less I would probably buy on Day 1 because I am excited at the idea of having the huge increase in performance along with being able to use my current games

I have been keeping up with the information that's been coming out for the most part and I'm eagerly awaiting a confirmed price to come along

Flaw with this logic is we have no real understanding of the game's real time performance meaning we don't need what it'll actually cost to make a PC equivalent as of now. When the PS4 came out with info you had Tim Sweeney claiming it was going to be the end of PC gaming and the equivalent of the then current High End PC rigs only to be proven wrong once more. Hell the process is repeating once more again with Tim Sweeney. Chances are the price range for a PC with a similar output to PS5 and the Xbox at this point will at best be $100-200 more than the console themselves which isn't that bad given the actual multitask function of a computer and the fact that just like Laptops the consoles will be throttled by it's cases design and never meet its full potential.

Either way I do hope to see what fun games they have as my only real condition to buying a console is if the console offers more than enough games to equal or surpass the cost of the console itself.
